A implantacao de um novo modelo de atencao a saude e transferencia dos psicologos do Departamento de Saude Escolar (DSE) para a Unidade Basica de Saude (UBS) da Secretaria do Municipio de Sao Paulo suscita questionamentos sobre o papel dos psicologos na area da psicologia escolar: definicao de seu objetivo de estudo, orientacao teorico-metodologica, atuacao preventiva e remediativa, clinica ou institucional, entre outras. Realiza pesquisa em documentos, utiliza entrevista aberta com 22 psicologos, com idade entre 30 e 50 anos e questionario. Analisa 3 itens: 1) concepcao que as psicologas tem sobre a dificuldade de aprendizagem de criancas da escola publica, na faixa etaria de primeiro grau, encaminhadas para a UBS com queixa escolar; 2) percepcao sobre as praticas exercidas no atendimento dessas criancas; 3) visao a respeito da transferencia das psicologas da educacao para a saude e seus efeitos sobre a pratica do atendimento. Os resultados mostram que as psicologas entrevistadas encontram-se a meio caminho para a autonomia, em relacao ao atendimento das dificuldades de aprendizagem. Aponta que o fortalecimento de uma nova identidade requer que os debates se efetivem no ambito das instituicoes e grupos, para ampliacao da consciencia individual e profissional (AU).
