This book was released on 1981 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emission of cyclotron radiation from PLT plasma in the presence of a mildly superthermal tail in the electron velocity distribution is investigated. The emitted spectrum has asymmetries which can be used to investigate the tail formation during slow modes electron Landau damping.

Download or read book Quasi-linear Saturation Effects on Electron-cyclotron-wave Damping of the Ordinary Mode in Tokamak Plasmas written by and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quasi-linear theory of electron cyclotron wave absorption for the ordinary mode propagating normal to the tokamak magnetic field is investigated. A two-dimensional initial value code has been developed to investigate the distortion of the electron momentum distribution from an initial Maxwellian. It is shown that for powers of interest for electron heating in future tokamaks, Coulomb electron collisions are not sufficient to avoid quasi-linear flattening of the electron distribution and therefore are not sufficient to avoid a reduction in the damping rate as compared to the linear case.

Book excerpt: The tokamak is the principal tool in controlled fusion research. This book acts as an introduction to the subject and a basic reference for theory, definitions, equations, and experimental results. The fourth edition has been completely revised, describing their development of tokamaks to the point of producing significant fusion power.

Book Synopsis Generation and Application of High Power Microwaves by : R.A Cairns
Download or read book Generation and Application of High Power Microwaves written by R.A Cairns and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-08-17 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written at the graduate level, Generation and Application of High Power Microwaves discusses the basic physics of the generation of microwave and radiofrequency waves in the megawatt power range and the application of these ideas to a range of devices such as klystrons, gyrotrons, and free electron lasers. The book also contains chapters covering the transmission of the power through waveguides and the problems associated with mode conversion in transmission lines. The main application area covered is the heating and current drive in tokamaks and other devices for research into controlled nuclear fusion. Other applications of high power microwave technology are not neglected, and among those discussed are multiple charged ion and soft x-ray sources, electron spin resonance spectroscopy, advanced materials processing, millimeter wave radar, and supercolliders.
