Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Live Cell Assays by : Christophe Furger
Download or read book Live Cell Assays written by Christophe Furger and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-07-14 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cell assays include all methods of measurements on living cells. Confined for a long time to research laboratories, these emerging methods have, in recent years, found industrial applications that are increasingly varied and, from now on, regulatory. Based on the recent explosion of knowledge in cell biology, the measurement of living cells represents a new class of industry-oriented research tests, the applications of which continue to multiply (pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, environment, etc.). Cellular tests are now being positioned as new tools at the interface between chemical methods, which are often obsolete and not very informative, and methods using animal models, which are expensive, do not fit with human data and are widely discussed from an ethical perspective. Finally, the development of cell assays is currently being strengthened by their being put into regulatory application, particularly in Europe through the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) and cosmetic directives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cells and Tissues in Culture: Methods, Biology and Physiology, Volume 1 covers the general fields of tissue culture, including an evaluation of its technique, effects, and contributions to biology. This book focuses on the three methods of culture—tissue culture, cell culture, and organ culture.Other topics include the design of complete synthetic media, possible evolution of the cell types, and energy relationships in growing and stationary cells. The RNA synthesis in cell cultures, culture of amphibian embryonic anlage, action of corticosteroids and adrenaline, and effects of parathyroid hormone on bone are also elaborated. This volume is recommended for biologists and specialists interested in the culture of cells and tissues.
Book Synopsis Animal Cell Technology by : R. E. Spier

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Animal Cell Technology: Developments, Processes and Products is a compilation of scientific papers presented at the 11th European Society for Animal Cell Technology (ESACT) Meeting, held in Brighton, United Kingdom. The book is a collection of various works of scientists, engineers, and other specialists from Europe and other parts of the world who are working with animal cells. The book's aim is to communicate experiences and research findings on the development of cell systems. The research papers are grouped into 25 sections encompassing 145 chapters. Subjects covered range from cells and physiology engineering dealing with cell characterization, cell culture establishment, cloning, and cell engineering. Topics on culture media, ammonium detoxification, the effects of physical parameters on cell cultures, assays and monitoring systems, and bioreactor techniques are also covered. Discussions are likewise made on the products from animal cells in culture, virus removal, and DNA determination and characterization in relation to safety issues. The book will be useful for cell biologists, molecular biologists, biochemists, biochemical engineers, and students engaged in the study of animal cell cultures.

Book Synopsis Animal Species For Developmental Studies by : T.A. Dettlaff
Download or read book Animal Species For Developmental Studies written by T.A. Dettlaff and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a revised and augmented edition of part of the book Ob"ekty Biologii Razvitiya (Animal Species for Developmental Studies) published in Rus sian in 1975 in the series of monographs Problemy Biologii Razvitiya (Problems of Developmental Biology) by Nauka Publishers, Moscow. That book described the development of organisms most frequently used in developmental biology studies. Data were provided for 22 animal species, belonging to different taxa, from protists to mammals. For the English edition we decided to divide the original book into two parts dealing with vertebrates and invertebrates, respectively. This volume deals with vertebrate species. When choosing these species, their advantages for laboratory studies, infonnation available, and availability for experimentation in the USSR and in Europe were taken into account. This geographical criterion explains the absence in the book of a number of species widely used in the laboratories of the USA, Japan, and other countries, such as Rana pipiens, Cynops pyrrhogaster, and others. Besides the classical laboratory animals, some fish have been described since the study of the mechanisms of their development and attempts to control their on togenesis are of immediate value and the results obtained can be tested on the mass material. A study of the development of laboratory mammals is of special interest since current problems of modern medicine and veterinary sciences are tackled using these animals.
