I have lived here for most of my life, but I also lived in California and studied there for three years. Even though I went to California alone, I was able to adapt to this new culture and loved the experience. After three years of studying in school there, I came back to Korea for high school. I decided to make this story book because I wanted to improve my Spanish by translating stories from Korean into Spanish. I have learned Spanish since 7th grade, and I am still learning it at school. Also, by creating this book, I wanted people from all around the world to learn about and enjoy the fun and mystery of Korean fairytales. Thank you for reading and I hope you all to enjoy this book!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: Based on the traditional Korean folktale “Samnyeongogae” (Three-Year Mountain Pass), this picture book parable by Korean-German artist Dayeon Auh features a fateful mountain, a superstitious grandfather, and a granddaughter with a clever perspective on life. Legend says that anyone who falls down Misfortune Mountain has three years left to live. Grandfather must travel over the treacherous mountain to get to the market, but one day catastrophe happens and he tumbles down! The doctor says he is perfectly healthy, but Grandfather feels the end is near . . . until his granddaughter comes to visit and makes a different calculation about his fate. From then after, the legend of the mountain takes on a new meaning, and everyone finds themselves eager to tumble down. A fable that demonstrates how a change in one’s mindset can make a positive impact.
