Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers concise descriptions of cross-sectional imaging studies of the abdomen and pelvis, supplemented with over 1100 high-quality images and discussion of state-of-the-art techniques. It is based on the most common clinical cases encountered in daily practice and uses an algorithmic approach to help radiologists arrive first at a working differential diagnosis and then reach an accurate diagnosis based on imaging features, which incorporate clinical, laboratory, and other underlying contexts. The book is organized by anatomical organ of origin and each chapter provides a brief anatomical background of the organ under review; explores various cross-sectional imaging techniques and common pathologies; and presents practical algorithms based on frequently encountered imaging features. Special emphasis is placed on the role of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In addition to algorithmic coverage of many pathological entities in various abdominopelvic organs, unique topics are also examined, such as imaging of organ transplant (including kidney, liver and pancreas), evaluation of perianal fistula, and assessment of rectal carcinoma and prostate carcinoma by MRI. Cross-Sectional Imaging of the Abdomen and Pelvis: A Practical Algorithmic Approach is a unique and practical resource for radiologists, fellows, and residents.

Book Synopsis Cross-Sectional Imaging in Crohn’s Disease by : Jordi Rimola
Download or read book Cross-Sectional Imaging in Crohn’s Disease written by Jordi Rimola and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-01-25 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comprehensively describes the state of the art in cross-sectional imaging of Crohn’s disease from both a clinical and a radiological perspective. The uses and impact of the different imaging techniques in daily practice and research are thoroughly examined, with coverage of ultrasound, computed tomography and magnetic resonance. In addition, emerging trends are scrutinized. The background to the book is an increasing perception that intestinal inflammation and complications are underdiagnosed using standard endoscopic or surgical techniques. Patients with Crohn’s disease usually require multiple reassessments during their lifetimes and often favor noninvasive techniques with a low risk of complications. These factors have reinforced the need for effective cross-sectional imaging techniques. Additionally, the expanding use of biologic agents, combined with their increased efficacy, expense, and risk, justifies the use of these techniques (particularly ultrasound and magnetic resonance) to monitor disease treatment and objectively measure inflammation and healing. Cross-Sectional Imaging in Crohn’s Disease will be of high value for both gastroenterologists and diagnostic radiologists.

Book Synopsis Innovations in Diagnostic Radiology by : James H. Anderson
Download or read book Innovations in Diagnostic Radiology written by James H. Anderson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of the new series, "Medical Radiology" addresses the important topic of "Innovations in Diagnostic Radiology". It presents examples of current work of interest not only to the radiological community but to physicians in other medical disciplines and to scientists in general. The impact of radiology on diagnostic medicine and patient management has been obvious from the beginning of our specialty. However, the evolution of the field is expanding at an astounding rate. During the professional lifetime of one generation of radiologists alone, numerous technologies and procedures have been added to conven tional radiography: cross sectional tomography, high resolution nuclear scanning, mag netic resonance imaging, ultrasound, interventional radiology and computer based radi ological operations. The optimal interpretation of images obtained by these new technologies requires that we expand our knowledge in physiology, biochemistry and also in our clinical expertise. It also means that radiologists must collaborate closely with other clinicians and basic scientists.
Book Synopsis Atlas of Cross-sectional Anatomy and Radiological Imaging by : David J. Jackowe
Download or read book Atlas of Cross-sectional Anatomy and Radiological Imaging written by David J. Jackowe and published by Anshan Pub. This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of both cadaveric axial cross-sections and CT scans is the basis of 21st century anatomy, and the cornerstone of clinical diagnostics. Modern medical imaging, such as CT (Computed Tomography) scans, produce 1-Dimensional anatomic cross-sections of the axial plane. Learning the proper sequence and orientation of axial cross-sections and CT scans is often extremely challenging, even for the most dedicated students of anatomy: The shapes seen in the axial plane have little relation to the more familiar coronal plane. Most texts abandon students to simply memorize the shapes seen at high-yield vertebral levels or perform tricky mental gymnastics, as they must mentally rotate the axial plane to the more familiar coronal. Students are further frustrated when learning CT scans, as the shapes seen in gray/white CT slices have little relation to the anatomic structures from which they are derived. This text serves to solve these problems by illustrating the sequence of axial cross-sections and CT scans in unique 3- Dimensional illustrations. This 3-D approach clearly demonstrates the relation of the shapes seen in cross- sections and CTs to their more familiar coronal/sagittal orientation. The illustrations themselves have been done by Dr Jackowe in the classic style of Vesalius and Bourgery, thus creating a work that is both informative and artistic, the first aesthetic anatomy textbook for many years. The atlas will serve as a review book, suitable for self-study and as a companion to standard anatomy textbooks. It will appeal to medical/anatomy students, medical residents, and radiologists, as well as the general science reader who will appreciate the quality of the illustrations.
