Book excerpt: For decades, Humankind sent transmissions around the globe. In addition to reaching every corner of the planet, the signals travelled beyond, into the dark void of space. All of broadcast history made its way gracefully through the stars, racing into the unknown-until the mid 1980s, when nuclear mushroom clouds plumed in the skies of Earth's Third World War. The magnitude of the explosions caused the extinction of life on Earth, and sent a shockwave through the fabric of reality. Due to this anomaly, all broadcasts running at the time of the bombs hurtled into space at an impossible speed. The signals, disobeying natural laws, outran and passed all transmissions from previous eras, leaving them far behind. At the head of Earth's messages to the cosmos travelled the collective broadcasts from one atomic day in history. In a remote star system, eyes turned towards the approaching 1980s transmissions. Curious consciousnesses examined the broadcasts from the strange extinct civilisation of Earth. Filled with these transmissions, the distant consciousnesses devised their response. They returned it in the form of their own transmission, directed back to the origin of its inspiration-1980s Earth. That transmission is Creepy Sheen.

Book excerpt: The accused: Thirteen-year-old Derek King and his twelve-year-old brother, Alex, Sunday school students with choirboy looks. The victim: Their own father. After midnight on November 26, 2001, someone bludgeoned Terry King to death while he slept, and set his Florida home afire. By the time the firefighters extinguished the blaze, King’s sons, Alex, twelve, and Derek, thirteen, were at the home of their forty-year-old friend, Ricky Chavis, a convicted child-molester. By the next afternoon, following confessions, both boys were charged as adults in their father’s slaying. Chavis was tried separately for the same crime—incredibly by the same attorney who would prosecute Alex and Derek, and argue two contradictory theories. When Alex divulged his sexual relationship with Chavis, the trial took a sensational turn. So did Alex and Derek, who recanted their confession and blamed Chavis to no avail. A jury convicted the boys of second-degree murder, but the judge threw the verdict out. Chavis was acquitted. But the case wasn’t over. As more disturbing revelations came to light, as criminal motives became more complex, and as the line between guilt and innocence was crossed, a stunned nation watched in disbelief to learn the ultimate fate of the . . . Angels of Death.

Book excerpt: The Scherana is trained to think first in the interests of the Esoteric Order, but the love of an orphan will awaken in her the desire to be a mother, and to free herself from the control of the Masonic Congregation. Her hopes for an ordinary life are threatened by events thatshake the streets of Paris, as well as the lives of the Grand Masters of this Order. Forced to make a painful choice, she takes on the most dangerous mission of her life, knowing that she may never find redemption. Things seem to be governed by an ancestral force leading her to discover her origins while salvaging her emotions . As Paris celebrates the approach of New Year's Eve, it is rattled by a series of barbaric murders. The Esoteric Order has been struck with brutal force, and its arcane foundations, which date back to the time of Solomon, are about to crumble under the blows of centuries-old enemies. A police investigation gets more complicated, with a trail of suspicious deaths making the city inhospitable to tourists. Commissioner Moreau seems to be in the dark. Behind the trafficking of archaeological artifacts are the unsuspected Counts of Gaillard, in search of the legendary scrolls of the Esoteric Order, which, according to ancient tradition, hide a secret of primordial importance. The Gaillards, aided by the criminal gang led by the Decker brothers, appear to have everything under control. But a mysterious force emerges from the shadows of the city that will illuminate the darkness and disrupt the lives of those involved.

Book excerpt: The stylistic and bloody excesses of the films of Dario Argento are instantly recognizable—his films lock violent deaths in a twisted embrace with an almost sexual beauty. Narrative and logic are often lost in a constant bombardment of atmosphere, technical mastery, and provocative imagery. Setting the tone with earlier gialli films such as The Animal Trilogy and Deep Red, Argento has steadily pushed the boundaries; through his elaborately gothic fairytales Suspiria and Inferno, right up to his more recent contributions to Showtime's Masters of Horror series and the conclusion of his Three Mothers trilogy, Mother of Tears: The Third Mother. Along the way, his prowling camera work, pounding scores, and stylistic bloodshed have only gained in intensity and opulence. Argento continues to create inimitable and feverishly violent films with a level of artistry rarely seen in horror films. His high profile and mastery of the genre is confirmed with his role as producer on celebrated classics such as George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead and Lamberto Bava's Demons.

Book excerpt: “Don’t Call Me Home is about madness and love. Alexandra tells the best stories about her extraordinary childhood as she travels the world with her mother Viva. Wit and wisdom wrapped and bound with love.” --Debbie Harry “Alexandra Auder’s Don’t Call Me Home is thrumming with life, in all its absurdity, vividness, and gunk. I literally laughed and cried, and cheered hard throughout for our intrepid narrator, who has gifted us an incomparable tale.”--Maggie Nelson author of The Argonauts and On Freedom A moving and wickedly funny memoir about one woman’s life as the daughter of a Warhol superstar and the intimate bonds of mother-daughter relationships Alexandra Auder’s life began at the Chelsea Hotel—New York City’s infamous bohemian hangout—when her mother, Viva, a longtime resident of the hotel and one of Andy Warhol’s superstars, went into labor in the lobby. These first moments of Alexandra’s life, documented by her filmmaker father, Michel Auder, portended the whirlwind childhood and teen years that she would go on to have. At the center of it all is Viva: a glamorous, larger-than-life woman with mercurial moods, who brings Alexandra with her on the road from gig to gig, splitting time between a home in Connecticut and Alexandra’s father’s loft in 1980s Tribeca, then moving back again to the Chelsea Hotel and spending summers with Viva’s upper-middle-class, conservative, hyperpatriarchal family of origin. In Don’t Call Me Home, Alexandra meditates on the seedy glory of being raised by two counterculture icons, from walking a pet goat around Chelsea and joining the Squat Theatre company to coparenting her younger sister, Gaby, with her mother and partying in East Village nightclubs. Flitting between this world and her present-day life as a yoga instructor, actress, mother, wife, and much-loved Instagram provocateur, Alexandra weaves a stunning, moving, and hilarious portrait of a family and what it means to move away from being your mother’s daughter into being a person of your own.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Andrea Peyser is a godsend, and I can't start my day without her." –Sean Hannity Celebutards. A compound of celebrity, debutante, and retard, this blunt term describes lazy and egotistical stars with too much money, fame, leisure time, and media attention, but too little common sense or knowledge, who love to spout off on topics about which they have zero expertise. With razor-sharp wit, award-winning New York Post columnist Andrea Peyser explodes the absurdities of the celebutard culture, showing how a dull thinker such as Madonna becomes a self-appointed sage on matters of faith; singer Sheryl Crow urges us to use a single square of toilet paper per wipe while she racks up mileage in her gas-guzzling caravan of SUVs; and hothead Sean Penn morphs into an expert on international diplomacy as he brazenly breaks bread with enemies of his own country like Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez. Always outspoken, Peyser pulls no punches in exposing the Hollywood and Washington libtards for the morons they truly are. "With an attitude that would frighten James Bond, Andrea Peyser takes on the famous and powerful who are destroying America. Read her book." --Bill O'Reilly "With Peyser's trademark slashing wit, Celebutards is guaranteed to score a direct hit on pampered Hollywood spokes-persons and other great liberal thinkers." --Ann Coulter "Andrea tells it like it is. . . She's done a great job." --Donald Trump "Andrea Peyser's got a bloodhound's nose for hypocrisy and hijinks that we sorely need these days." --Jonah Goldberg, New York Times bestselling author of Liberal Fascism "Andrea Peyser. . . Today's Worst Person in the World!" --Keith Olbermann Now Updated with Even More Celebutards!
