Book excerpt: Le travail présenté dans ce mémoire est principalement consacré à l’étude de la commande prédictive généralisée à temps continu (CGPC) appliquée à des systèmes mécatroniques. Il s’agit d’une contribution à l’analyse et la synthèse d’une loi de commande basée sur la minimisation d’un critère quadratique à horizon fini et fuyant. Cette loi de commande s’est révélée comme une stratégie bien adaptée, capable de contrôler une large classe de systèmes. En effet, elle s’applique aussi bien aux systèmes instables, qu’aux systèmes à non minimum de phase. Une connaissance exacte du retard n’est pas indispensable. Un autre schéma de commande prédictive a été proposé, il consiste à utiliser la structure de commande par modèle interne basée sur la minimisation du critère quadratique de la CGPC. Cette méthode permet, d’une part, d’incorporer une capacité de poursuite explicite dans la commande CGPC, et d’autre part, de tirer profit de la robustesse qu’offre la structure IMC. L’analyse de la robustesse des algorithmes CGPC et IMC/CGPC a permis d’établir quelques règles concernant le choix des paramètres de réglages. De plus, nous avons examiné le moyen d’accroître la stabilité robuste des deux algorithmes, en utilisant le concept de la LTR pour la CGPC avec observateur, et en introduisant un filtre de robustesse dans la structure IMC/CGPC. En vue d’étendre la commande prédictive aux systèmes non linéaires, une version à temps continu de l’approche « Local Model Networks », basée sur une représentation d’état a été proposée. Enfin, une autre approche basée sur la combinaison de la commande prédictive et la commande à mode glissant est développée. Cette méthode a montré son efficacité et ses performances en termes d’erreur statique quasiment nulle et sa rapidité de régulation en présence de perturbations extérieures. Une validation expérimentale des différents algorithmes a été faite sur un système à trois cuves. Les avantages ainsi que les limitations des lois de commandes proposées ont été soulignés

Cette question concerne la dépendance de la commande optimale de l'état d'un système (en plus de se dépendance du temps). Après l'introduction du cadre général du travail, nous exposons la méthode dite des extrémales voisines qui consiste à calculer une trajectoire optimale nominale et à apporter la correction nécessaire à la commande lors de l'évolution réelle du système, cette correction étant proportionnelle à la différence constatée entre l'état réel et l'état nominal. Nous nous intéressons ensuite à l'approximation polynomiale de la commande optimale en tant que fonction de l'état et du temps. L'idée se base sur l'approximation successive par les solutions d'une suite d'équations aux dérivées partielles (EVP : équation de la variation de la performance). Des résultats d'existence et d'unicité de la solution de EVP et de la convergence du schéma d'approximation sont prouvées. Dans la dernière partie du travail, la propriété d'approximateurs universels des réseaux de neurones est rappelée et exploitée pour construire une approximation de la commande optimale. L'idée ici est de modéliser la commande par un réseau de neurones (qui est un modèle paramétrique non linéaire) et de chercher les meilleures valeurs pour les paramètres de ce dernier pour approcher le mieux possible une commande optimale. Ainsi transformé, le problème devient un problème de programmation mathématique que l'on résout par les méthodes classiques. Tout le long du travail, des exemples de problèmes significatifs sont traités pour montrer l'efficacité des démarches proposées et les résultats obtenus sont comparés avec ceux de la littérature. Une attention et un traitement particulier sont accordés à un problème de transfert orbital d'un satellite soumis par le Centre National d'Études Spatiales.

Many artists and critics looked to the mural as a corrective to the ills of painterly Modernism: the disruption of the pictorial field at the hands of Cubism and other avant-garde practices; the commodification of painting through the market for easel paintings; and more generally the alienation of man and the anomie of art in the modern condition. At the same time it was clear that a return to the mural format would never be more than an anachronistic and futile gesture. This book is therefore about mural paintings that are not convinced they belong on walls: such strange objects as mosaics designed to be disassembled; paintings that resemble large-scale photographs, or photomurals; and tapestries that functioned as portable woolen walls. The author argues that the uncertain relation of these objects to the wall is symptomatic of the dilemmas that troubled European art, artists, and architects during the middle decades of the twentieth century.
