Book excerpt: Les Systèmes d'Information Géographiques (SIG) réclament des besoins particuliers de gestion de leur contenu, parce qu'ils manipulent des données dont les structures sont complexes et hétérogènes. Ces données sont souvent difficiles à décrire par des requêtes classiques ou des prédicats basés sur des attributs. Le croquis à main levée (sketch) est une veille forme de présentation qui a été employée pour visualiser, échanger et enregistrer l'information graphique. Il semble être ainsi facilement adaptable pour présenter et interroger d'une manière flexible les données des SIG Dans cette thèse nous cherchons à apporter une contribution à la gestion de données géographiques. Deux axes de recherche complémentaires ont formé l'épine dorsale de cette contribution : - la proposition d'un modèle qui permet de représenter tout les aspects spécifiques des représentations géographiques. Cette modélisation a été conçue afin de permettre de détecter des ressemblances entre une requête esquissée et une configuration spatiale particulière. La notion de graphes a été largement utilisée pour représenter ces configurations d'une manière exhaustive. Notre approche cherche à simplifer ces présentations tout en gardant leur expressivité ; - la mise en place d'un algorithme pour assurer la recherche des correspondants, dans une base de données géographique, d'une requête formulée sous forme d'un croquis. Cet algorithme est constitué par deux étapes : l'appariement et le calcul de similarité. La complexité des méthodes d'appariement existantes nous a menés à proposer une solution qui consiste à regrouper les objets en se basant sur la proximité spatiale. Nos travaux ont donné lieu à la réalisation d'un prototype " SIG-Croquis ". Il s'agit d'un système d'aide à la construction des croquis. Ces croquis seront utilisés par la suite pour interroger une base d'images géographiques. Les requêtes ainsi que les données de notre base de test ont été modélisées, simplifiées et appariées en utilisant l'ensemble des approches proposées dans cette thèse.

Les Systèmes d'Information Géographique (SIG), outils performants de visualisation et de simulations des phénomènes territoriaux, en dépit de leur développement fulgurant de ces dernières années, restent statiques et limités dans la hiérarchisation des solutions basées sur une multitude de critères. L'approche méthodologique proposée consiste en une combinaison appropriée des SIG-Télédétection et de l'AMC en vue de bonifier leurs avantages et de réduire leurs limites notamment dans la prise en charge de l'aide à la décision dans les projets d'aménagement linéaires. L'Analyse Multicritère (AMC) et les Systèmes d'Information Géographique (SIG) sont utilisés respectivement pour l'intégration des critères, l'analyse, la classification des variantes et la visualisation de celles-ci pour une meilleure prise de décision. Le système hybride obtenu (SIG-AMC) est associé, d'une manière complémentaire, à l'utilisation des nouvelles Techniques d'Information et de Communication (TICs : Internet, Téléphonie mobile, Réseaux Sociaux : Twitter, Facebook), pour couvrir et prendre en charge toute la dimension de la communication entre les différents acteurs afin de mettre en œuvre et d'assurer une gouvernance participative des territoires.

The DayWater ADSS greatly facilitates decision-making for stormwater source control, which is currently impeded by the large number of stakeholders involved and by the necessary multidisciplinary knowledge. This book presents the results of this project, providing new insights into both technical and management issues. The main objectives of its technical chapters are pollution source control modelling, risk and impact assessment, and evaluation and comparison of best management practices. It also covers management aspects, such as the analysis of the decision-making processes in stormwater source control, at a European scale, and stormwater management strategies in general. The combination of scientific-technical and socio-managerial knowledge, with the strong cooperation of numerous end-users, reflects the innovative character of this book which includes actual applications of the ADSS prototype in significant case studies. DayWater: an Adaptive Decision Support System for Urban Stormwater Management contains 26 chapters collectively prepared by DayWater scientific partners and end-users associated with this European Research and Development project. It includes several disciplines and te- niques for the study of the Earth’s surface and its environments, and computer science plays a decisive role. A more meaningful and appropriate expression is G- spatial Information or GeoInformation. Geo-spatial Information embeds topography in its more modern forms (measurements with electronic instrumentation, sophisticated techniques of data analysis and network compensation, global satellite positioning techniques, laser scanning, etc.), analytical and digital photogrammetry, satellite and airborne remote sensing, numerical cartography, geographical information systems, decision support systems, WebGIS, etc. These specialized elds are intimately interrelated in terms of both the basic science and the results pursued: rigid separation does not allow us to discover several common aspects and the fundamental importance assumed in a search for solutions in the complex survey context. The objective pursued by Mario A. Gomarasca, one that is only apparently modest, is to publish an integrated text on the surveying theme, containing simple and comprehensible concepts relevant to experts in Geo-spatial Information and/or speci cally in one of the disciplines that compose it. At the same time, the book is rigorous and synthetic, describing with precision the main instruments and methods connected to the multiple techniques available today.
