Book Synopsis Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy by : A. Mangini
Download or read book Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy written by A. Mangini and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy, Volume 1 covers the proceedings of the Fourth Meeting of Molecular Spectroscopy, held in Bologna, Italy on September 7-12, 1959. This book is organized into three parts encompassing 69 chapters. The first part presents first some experimental and correlations studies on molecular structure, followed by discussions on the application of molecular spectroscopic techniques for molecular structure determination. Part II reviews experimental determination of Raman intensities, vibrations of aromatic rings, and IR spectra and electronic structure of various organic compounds. Part III considers the general theories on molecular spectroscopy. This topic is followed by surveys on electron energy, orbital valency, relations among potential energy of diatomic molecules, and determination of rotation structure. This book will be of value to molecular spectroscopists and analytical and organic chemists.
Book Synopsis Dynamic Aspects of Conformation Changes in Biological Macromolecules by : C. Sadron

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 511 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the day after the 1959 Cambridge Congress, during which the International Union of Pure and Applied Biophysics was founded, a biophysics section was formed within the Society of Physical Chemistry (Societe de Chimie Physique). Since then, three of the Society's annual meetings (the 11th, 17th, and 23rd) were devoted exclusively to the physico-chemical study of biological systems. The first of these was held in June 1961 at a hotel in Col de Voza, at the foot of an alpine glacier above Chamonix. The second, in May 1967, took place in the more learned setting of the venerable rooms of the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. The third - the one dealt with in the present volume - was recently held at Orleans-La Source in the newly built lecture theatres of the young University, which is near the great Institutes of the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), on the Sologne plateau. These three stages are milestones of an evolution which characterises (at least schematically) the explosive evolution of biological physico-chemistry. The first colloquium, with the title 'Deoxyribonucleic Acid: Structure, Synthesis and Functions', actually marks the first contact of the physical chemist with one of the then most prestigious biological macromolecules, the structure of which had just been discovered, and in this way celebrated one of the first and most striking successes of molecular biology.

Book Synopsis Clinical Applications of Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy by : Suresh K. Mukherji
Download or read book Clinical Applications of Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy written by Suresh K. Mukherji and published by Wiley-Liss. This book was released on 1998-04-28 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Clinical Applications of MR Spectroscopy Edited by Suresh K. Mukherji, M.D. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) is a powerful diagnostic tool for a variety of brain disorders—from epilepsy and tumors to age-related degeneration and strokes. Unlike magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which gives us a picture of anatomical and physiological conditions, MRS generates a frequency domain spectrum that provides information about biochemical and metabolic processes occurring within tissues. Clinical Applications of MR Spectroscopy presents a short, practical treatment of MRS today. Comprising contributions by leading authorities in the field, the book discusses MRS techniques used for diagnostic purposes and research, terminologies and examples drawn from clinical experience, and ways to correlate MRS results with other modalities to enhance our understanding of disease processes and the outcomes of particular treatments. Topics include: Basic principles of clinical proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy MRS in the evaluation of epilepsy Proton MRS of brain tumors Proton MRS in selected childhood disorders MRS and spectroscopic imaging for cerebrovascular disease MRS of degenerative brain disease in the elderly MRS of the head and neck Potential clinical applications of new techniques in MRS Correlation of functional brain imaging with MRS Clinical Applications of MR Spectroscopy provides 150 photographs and figures to illustrate the interpretation of MRS signals, as well as fully referenced chapters for those wishing to expand their knowledge of the underlying science. It is an essential guide to the state of the art for radiologists and neurologists using this technology to improve patient care.
