Book excerpt: Ce travail est consacré à l'étude du comportement mécanique des granulats et du béton bitumineux aussi bien en petites déformations qu'en grandes déformations. Les essais en petites déformations ont été réalisés à l'aide d'un appareil triaxial thermo-régulé qui permet d'explorer le domaine des petites déformations des matériaux avec une grande précision, pour des déformations homogènes comprises entre 10-5 et 10-2. Alors que les essais en grandes déformations ont été réalisés à l'aide de l'appareil triaxial conventionnel régulé en température. Nous avons étudié les propriétés mécaniques des granulats (le modèle d'Young, le coefficient de poisson et le coefficient d'amortissement) en fonction des paramètres suivants: la contrainte effective moyenne (p), l'indice des vides (e) et les conditions de drainage. Des formules ont été proposées exprimant le module d'Young (Emax) en fonction de (p) et (e); ainsi qu'une relation entre le module non draine, le module draine et le coefficient de poisson. De même, les propriétés mécaniques du sable d'Hostun (0.1-0.6) ont été étudiées sous différents états de contraintes. On en déduit qu'une loi élastique anisotrope est nécessaire pour modéliser le comportement des matériaux granulaires sous la forme: Emax=p#n. L'influence, sur les caractéristiques mécaniques (module de rigidité, coefficient de poisson et angle de perte) d'un enrobe bitumineux, de différents paramètres: la température, la fréquence de sollicitation, la contrainte latérale et l'anisotropie de fabrication a été étudiée. Les limites du comportement linéaire de l'enrobe bitumineux sont explorées. Un abaque et une expression analytique sont proposés pour le calcul du module de rigidité, ainsi que pour le coefficient de poisson dans une large gamme de température et de fréquence

Une modélisation simplifiée de la perte de raideur lors du séchage est proposée sous la forme d'un endommagement hydrique isotrope. Le modèle est validé dans le cas unidimensionnel grâce à des résultats d'essais effectués au LML. Il permet d'estimer avec plus de précision l'état des contraintes hydriques dans le béton. Des simulations numériques sur des structures en 3D sont ensuite proposées. Une application au cas d'un voile en cours de réalisation est faite. Les apports du modèle sont également testés dans le cas où on simule la réponse mécanique globale d'éprouvettes cylindriques en mortier soumises au séchage et à des essais de compression simple. L'effet de la succion capillaire ainsi que l'augmentation de limite élastique lors du séchage sont alors discutés. Enfin, les apports de la modélisation pour les calculs de fluage propre et de dessiccation sont présentés.

In other disciplines knowledge about surface properties and the background of bonding energies is also far from satisfactory; nevertheless there are many important· applications in concrete engineering, where adhesion is necessary for success and durability. These include: - coating and painting - repair of concrete surfaces - bonding of fresh to old concrete - crack injection - glueing of precast elements - glueing of steel to concrete, etc. In 1981 RILEM established the technical committee 52-RAC 'Resin Adherence to Concrete'.
