Book excerpt: Une étude bibliographique du processus d'apparition et d'oxydation des particules de suie dans différents systèmes de combustion est tout d'abord présentée avec un intérêt particulier pour l'étude du moteur diesel. Une méthode de mesures optiques basée sur la diffusion de la lumière par les particules de suie a été d'abord étudiée théoriquement puis mise en place pour les mesures locales du diamètre et de la concentration de ces particules dans les milieux en combustion. Apres une validation sur des billes de latex, les premières applications ont porte, dans le cadre d'une étude fondamentale, sur une flamme de diffusion laminaire. Elles ont permis d'établir une cartographie détaillée des tailles et concentrations de particules dans cette flamme. Une estimation des paramètres représentatifs des cinétiques de formation et de précombustion des particules de suie a pu être effectuée. Transposée a un moteur diesel équipe d'accès optiques, cette méthode a permis de mesurer et de suivre l'évolution de la taille et de la concentration des particules au cours de la combustion en un point de l'axe du jet tandis que des mesures d'extinction délivraient le volume total de suie se trouvant dans la chambre de combustion a chaque instant

But the authors of this paper maintain that this policy is showing signs of being outmoded. The time has come, the authors argue, for the Korean government to stop managing the economy's structural development and to redefine the responsibilities of business and government. Under this proposed compact, the allocation of resources would shift from the government to the private industrial and financial sectors. The transformation of the government bureaucracy from an ad hoc policy role to one of a transparent and predictable regulator is a key to the success of this undertaking. These new directions would present the government with enormous challenges. Greater competitive discipline and regulatory oversight would be required. While dealing with the complexities of the transition, the government would have to maintain macroeconomic stability and the momentum of savings and investment. For comparison, the study examines the industrial economies of France, Germany, Japan, and the United States, which underwent similar shifts.

Book excerpt: Ce travail consiste en l'application de la spectrométrie infrarouge à transformée de Fourier à des flammes de diffusion laminaires axisymétriques chargées de suie. Des mesures d'émission et de transmission, résolues spatialement, sont réalisées. L'étude bibliographique proposée décrit les connaissances actuelles sur la formation des suies dans des conditions similaires à celles des flammes produites dans le cadre de cette étude. Les méthodes de diagnostic des milieux en combustion sont abordées et l'accent est mis sur les mesures optiques. Un dispositif expérimental de spectrométrie d'émission a été conçu et évalué afin de mesurer localement le flux partant imputable aux suies contenues dans des flammes laminaires axisymétriques de diffusion de propane et d'éthylène. Cette technique quantitative est appliquée à cinq flammes et l'erreur de mesure due au dispositif est évaluée à environ 5 pour-cents. Grâce à des méthodes d'analyse supplémentaires, les résultats obtenus sont commentés et comparés. Le montage expérimental est ensuite transformé afin de permettre des acquisitions de spectrométrie d'extinction résolue en espace. Ces mesures, prises sur une flamme de diffusion d'éthylène, permettent l'identification du coefficient d'extinction local par le biais d'une méthode tomographique. L'hypothèse de diffusion de Rayleigh permet de plus l'obtention de la fraction volumique locale de suie.
