Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Conservations for Freedom's Cause Concentrated sunshine. Purest of distilled waters, Nature's sweets! Fruits best of all, supply the universal craving for sweets. The time has passed when fruits were regarded as an article of luxury rather than a staple food. Rich. Ripe, raw fruits are essential to a perfect dietary. They contain the richest, purest sweets of the most reliable brand. When man takes these distilled waters. Sugars, acids and mineral salts as Nature prepares them his blood will keep its normal tone. The mineral salts in the apple are iron, lime, phosphorus and magnesia, etc. These salts in this form are easily assimilated and aid greatly in maintaining the body in a perfect condition. Apples blend perfectly with one of the meat foods or one of the fats, non-starchy vegetables and salad vegetables. They are man's most uni versal relish and a child's delight. A basket of apples on the table in the winter months adds as much beauty and fragrance to the room as does a vase of owers in summer. The apple pleases every sense, touch, taste, sight and smell, and its fall pleases the ear. Its rare keeping qualities make it possible for people in the most remote parts of the world to enjoy its delicious avor and refreshing nourish ment. John Burroughs tells us the full-juiced apple waxing over mellow is the concentrated shafts of Northern sunshine; it is the natural antidote of most of the ills the esh is heir to, full of vegetable acids and aromatics. Its sugar and mucilage make it highly nutritious. The apple is the commonest and yet the most varied and beautiful of fruits - temperate. Chaste, bracing, sub-acid, active, best friend of man. To absorb and transmute its quality one would be cheerful, contented, equitable, sweet-blooded, long-lived, shedding warmth and sunshine and contentment all round. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “EAGLE CLAWS FOR FREEDOM'S CAUSE” is a sometimes humorous sometimes serious look at America. Her past her present & her future. DeAnna Lorraine who ran for Congress in San Francisco in 2020 is the person who most of the poems in this book are about. A successful author in her own right she has written two books (Making Love Great Again & more recently Taking Back America). She has been a champion for conservative thought. Particularly raising awareness against the evils of modern day Feminism. Although her run did not end with victory at the ballot box. In the process her’s became a leading voice in the upswell of conservatism which began to reassert itself again in America in the year 2016. With its influence continuing to grow long into the future. DeAnna has had the honor of being retweeted on six separate occasions by the President of the United States. You can find her on Parler these days. Her unorthodox (energetic) campaign & engaging personality became the inspiration for most of the poems in this book. She is currently on hiatus from hosting her own news show on Infowars. Keeping herself active organizing & attending rallies across the United States. As of this writing I have not yet had the distinct pleasure of meeting her personally but Lord willing I very much look forward to doing so in the near future. The rest of the book contains poems drawing parallels in America from 1776 to the present. With the events beginning in 2016 the unexpected (by many) NOT ME election of President Donald Trump. This cataclysmic event signifying the restoration of America’s rightful place as the world’s leading beacon of hope for the freedom of man on this planet called earth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea of human rights began as a call for individual freedom from tyranny, yet today it is exploited to rationalize oppression and promote collectivism. How did this happen? Aaron Rhodes, recognized as “one of the leading human rights activists in the world” by the University of Chicago, reveals how an emancipatory ideal became so debased. Rhodes identifies the fundamental flaw in the Universal Declaration of Human of Rights, the basis for many international treaties and institutions. It mixes freedom rights rooted in natural law—authentic human rights—with “economic and social rights,” or claims to material support from governments, which are intrinsically political. As a result, the idea of human rights has lost its essential meaning and moral power. The principles of natural rights, first articulated in antiquity, were compromised in a process of accommodation with the Soviet Union after World War II, and under the influence of progressivism in Western democracies. Geopolitical and ideological forces ripped the concept of human rights from its foundations, opening it up to abuse. Dissidents behind the Iron Curtain saw clearly the difference between freedom rights and state-granted entitlements, but the collapse of the USSR allowed demands for an expanding array of economic and social rights to gain legitimacy without the totalitarian stigma. The international community and civil society groups now see human rights as being defined by legislation, not by transcendent principles. Freedoms are traded off for the promise of economic benefits, and the notion of collective rights is used to justify restrictions on basic liberties. We all have a stake in human rights, and few serious observers would deny that the concept has lost clarity. But no one before has provided such a comprehensive analysis of the problem as Rhodes does here, joining philosophy and history with insights from his own extensive work in the field.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An inspiring call to redeem the progressive legacy of the greatest generation, now under threat as never before. On January 6, 1941, the Greatest Generation gave voice to its founding principles, the Four Freedoms: Freedom from want and from fear. Freedom of speech and religion. In the name of the Four Freedoms they fought the Great Depression. In the name of the Four Freedoms they defeated the Axis powers. In the process they made the United States the richest and most powerful country on Earth. And, despite a powerful, reactionary opposition, the men and women of the Greatest Generation made America freer, more equal, and more democratic than ever before. Now, when all they fought for is under siege, we need to remember their full achievement, and, so armed, take up again the fight for the Four Freedoms.

Book excerpt: Helen Steward argues that determinism is incompatible with agency itself--not only the special human variety of agency, but also powers which can be accorded to animal agents. She offers a distinctive, non-dualistic version of libertarianism, rooted in a conception of what biological forms of organisation might make possible in the way of freedom.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • SELECTED BY THE ECONOMIST AS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR “A rambunctious book that is itself alive with the animal spirits of the marketplace.”—The Wall Street Journal Freedom’s Forge reveals how two extraordinary American businessmen—General Motors automobile magnate William “Big Bill” Knudsen and shipbuilder Henry J. Kaiser—helped corral, cajole, and inspire business leaders across the country to mobilize the “arsenal of democracy” that propelled the Allies to victory in World War II. Drafting top talent from companies like Chrysler, Republic Steel, Boeing, Lockheed, GE, and Frigidaire, Knudsen and Kaiser turned auto plants into aircraft factories and civilian assembly lines into fountains of munitions. In four short years they transformed America’s army from a hollow shell into a truly global force, laying the foundations for the country’s rise as an economic as well as military superpower. Freedom’s Forge vividly re-creates American industry’s finest hour, when the nation’s business elites put aside their pursuit of profits and set about saving the world. Praise for Freedom’s Forge “A rarely told industrial saga, rich with particulars of the growing pains and eventual triumphs of American industry . . . Arthur Herman has set out to right an injustice: the loss, down history’s memory hole, of the epic achievements of American business in helping the United States and its allies win World War II.”—The New York Times Book Review “Magnificent . . . It’s not often that a historian comes up with a fresh approach to an absolutely critical element of the Allied victory in World War II, but Pulitzer finalist Herman . . . has done just that.”—Kirkus Reviews (starred review) “A compulsively readable tribute to ‘the miracle of mass production.’ ”—Publishers Weekly “The production statistics cited by Mr. Herman . . . astound.”—The Economist “[A] fantastic book.”—Forbes “Freedom’s Forge is the story of how the ingenuity and energy of the American private sector was turned loose to equip the finest military force on the face of the earth. In an era of gathering threats and shrinking defense budgets, it is a timely lesson told by one of the great historians of our time.”—Donald Rumsfeld

Book excerpt: The truths about Iran; quite different truths from versions put forward by Washington, Tehran, and the media. Iran thundered onto the world stage in 1979 with an Islamic revolution that shook the world. Today that revolution has gone astray, a popular democracy movement boldly challenges authority, and young Iranians are more interested in moving to America than in chanting "Death to America." Afshin Molavi, born in Iran and fluent in Persian, traveled widely across his homeland, exploring the legacy of the Iranian revolution and probing the soul of Iran, a land with nearly three millennia of often-glorious history. Like a master Persian carpet maker, Molavi weaves together threads of rich historical insight, political analysis, cultural observation, and the daily realities of life in the Islamic republic to produce a colorful, intricate, and mesmerizing narrative. Originally published in hardcover under the title Persian Pilgrimages, this paperback edition is revised, with a new introduction and epilogue.
