Download or read book Neural Networks in Telecommunications written by Ben Yuhas and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neural Networks in Telecommunications consists of a carefully edited collection of chapters that provides an overview of a wide range of telecommunications tasks being addressed with neural networks. These tasks range from the design and control of the underlying transport network to the filtering, interpretation and manipulation of the transported media. The chapters focus on specific applications, describe specific solutions and demonstrate the benefits that neural networks can provide. By doing this, the authors demonstrate that neural networks should be another tool in the telecommunications engineer's toolbox. Neural networks offer the computational power of nonlinear techniques, while providing a natural path to efficient massively-parallel hardware implementations. In addition, the ability of neural networks to learn allows them to be used on problems where straightforward heuristic or rule-based solutions do not exist. Together these capabilities mean that neural networks offer unique solutions to problems in telecommunications. For engineers and managers in telecommunications, Neural Networks in Telecommunications provides a single point of access to the work being done by leading researchers in this field, and furnishes an in-depth description of neural network applications.

Book Synopsis Proceedings of the International Workshop on Applications of Neural Networks to Telecommunications 3 by : Joshua Alspector
Download or read book Proceedings of the International Workshop on Applications of Neural Networks to Telecommunications 3 written by Joshua Alspector and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 1997 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently, the telecommunications industry has been exposed to many changes in technology. AT&T is currently experiencing its second divestiture. The internet has grown explosively with enormous numbers of people subscribing to providers such as America On Line. Microsoft, Netscape, and other computer-oriented companies are competing furiously for customers in the on-line world. Customers are having service problems because the network and providers cannot keep up with the ever-growing demand for service. Selling on the internet is ubiquitous with every company and with many individuals having a home page. Anecdotal evidence, however, suggests that almost nobody is making a profit from the growth of the internet. The papers in this collection reflect these changes. They were presented at a meeting of the International Workshop on the Application of Neural Networks to Communications (IWANNT*97). Discussing a wide variety of intelligent system applications, the major theme of the articles is networking, especially the use of ATM technology and the modeling of the resulting traffic. Recurring themes in this conference are routing and resource allocation in all types of communications networks. The collection also contains papers on fault detection, diagnosis, correction, coding and equalization, customer profiling, and pattern recognition.

Download or read book Computational Intelligence in Telecommunications Networks written by Witold Pedrycz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Telecommunications has evolved and grown at an explosive rate in recent years and will undoubtedly continue to do so. As its functions, applications, and technology grow, it becomes increasingly complex and difficult, if not impossible, to meet the demands of a global network using conventional computing technologies. Computational intelligence (CI) is the technology of the future-and the future is now. Computational Intelligence in Telecommunications Networks offers an in-depth look at the rapid progress of CI technology and shows its importance in solving the crucial problems of future telecommunications networks. It covers a broad range of topics, from Call Admission Control, congestion control, and QoS-routing for ATM networks, to network design and management, optical, mobile, and active networks, and Intelligent Mobile Agents. Today's telecommunications professionals need a working knowledge of CI to exploit its potential to overcome emerging challenges. The CI community must become acquainted with those challenges to take advantage of the enormous opportunities the telecommunications field offers. This text meets both those needs, clearly, concisely, and with a depth certain to inspire further theoretical and practical advances.

Download or read book Admission Control and Routing Algorithms for ATM Networks written by Cauligi S. Raghavendra and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this research project, several issues related to providing Quality of Service (QoS) for command and control applications running on ATM networks were investigated. The QoS requirements are specified in terms of maximum delay, jitter, and cell loss probability. In this context, new AIM switch designs, algorithms for traffic control, routing, and multicasting were developed. Novel neural network based techniques for traffic characterization and admission control at the node and network levels were developed. A new multicast switch architecture was designed for use in high performance ATM networks and its performance as evaluated via simulation. New algorithms for efficiently routing ATM cells in input buffered switches were developed and their performance was evaluated.

Intelligent Systems: Technology and Applications, Six Volume Set connects theory with proven practical applications to provide broad, multidisciplinary coverage in a single resource. In these volumes, international experts present case-study examples of successful practical techniques and solutions for diverse applications ranging from robotic systems to speech and signal processing, database management, and manufacturing.

Book Synopsis Call Admission Control in Mobile Cellular Networks by : Sanchita Ghosh
Download or read book Call Admission Control in Mobile Cellular Networks written by Sanchita Ghosh and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-08-14 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Call Admission Control (CAC) and Dynamic Channel Assignments (DCA) are important decision-making problems in mobile cellular communication systems. Current research in mobile communication considers them as two independent problems, although the former greatly depends on the resulting free channels obtained as the outcome of the latter. This book provides a solution to the CAC problem, considering DCA as an integral part of decision-making for call admission. Further, current technical resources ignore movement issues of mobile stations and fluctuation in network load (incoming calls) in the control strategy used for call admission. In addition, the present techniques on call admission offers solution globally for the entire network, instead of considering the cells independently. CAC here has been formulated by two alternative approaches. The first approach aimed at handling the uncertainty in the CAC problem by employing fuzzy comparators. The second approach is concerned with formulation of CAC as an optimization problem to minimize call drop, satisfying a set of constraints on feasibility and availability of channels, hotness of cells, and velocity and angular displacement of mobile stations. Evolutionary techniques, including Genetic Algorithm and Biogeography Based Optimization, have been employed to solve the optimization problems. The proposed approaches outperform traditional methods with respect to grade and quality of services.

Book Synopsis Proceedings of the International Workshop on Applications of Neural Networks to Telecommunications by : Joshua Alspector
Download or read book Proceedings of the International Workshop on Applications of Neural Networks to Telecommunications written by Joshua Alspector and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2013-06-17 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world is witnessing the rapid evolution of its own nervous system by an unparalleled growth in communication technology. Like the evolution of the nervous systems in animals, this growth is being driven by a survival-of-the-fittest-mechanism. In telecommunications, the entities that fuel this growth are companies and nations who compete with each other. Companies with superior information systems can outrun and outsmart others because they serve their customers better. On the threshold of an explosion in the variety, speed and usefulness of telecommunication networks, neural network researchers can make important contributions to this emerging new telecommunications infrastructure. The first International Workshop on Applications of Neural Networks to Telecommunications (IWANNT) was planned in response to the telecommunications industry's needs for new adaptive technologies. This workshop featured 50 talks and posters that were selected by an organizing committee of experts in both telecommunications and neural networks. These proceedings will also be available on-line in an electronic format providing multimedia figures, cross-referencing, and annotation.
