Book excerpt: About The Author: "I live in a dream world of my own making, which is probably for the best, because living in a dream world of somebody else's making, might really suck!" - Rick Moore Publishers Note: Hello there. My name is Elizabeth Richardson and I currently live on the glorious Gold Coast of Australia. I'm so glad you've come to join us on this adventure. I first met Rick on the pages of Facebook when I was in the midst of writing my first major work, called 500 Confessions (Book 1), and it didn't take long to notice Rick imitating my format in such a ridiculously rude and funny way that I was compelled to do something with them. They were so bad, they were BRILLIANT. Life is supposed to be fun, and while most of my confessions are intertwined with personal development, emotional soothing and a beautiful spiritual flare, Rick's are laced with debauchery, silliness and random mayhem. He taught me that God is present in everything we do, not just in the socially acceptable aspects of life - God is right here, right now in ALL part of our lives, especially in those parts that we tend to hide behind closed doors. We most noticeably FEEL that connection to God (or Spirit or Source or Infinite Intelligence or Higher Self or Inner Being, whatever you want to call it), when we laugh, when we enjoy something, when we smile or when we feel good for any reason at all, and when I first spotted Rick's "out-there" Confessions, they took me so much by surprise, I laughed like a crazy woman. God has the best sense of humor. Please note, Confessions Of A Madman contains adult language and some potentially distasteful jokes, so if you take life lightly, this will most likely be a really good read for you. If you are easily offended and you've picked this up without realizing what you've gotten yourself in for, well, take a really deep breath, prepare to be slightly shocked (and most definitely entertained) and dive right in.

Book excerpt: Baghdad Letters is a collection of correspondence, journals and photographs compiled by a young couple from Texas in Iraq from September 1966 to May 1967. From the book: Baghdad preferred professors with a Texas accent since the Iraqis had problems understanding the oilfield personnel working there, most of whom were from places like Odessa, Texas. On the flight from London, I told a British soldier, "I'm going to Baghdad to teach English." He threw his head back and laughed, "My God, you don't even SPEAK it!" he said. This isn't just a different culture, or even civilization. It is a different Time, a different world. In the desert at midnight we came upon a roadblock. An Iraqi soldier with a machine gun shined a light in our faces and filthy troops crowded around the car to look at us. "Where you go?" "Baghdad," I said. "La," (No) he said, looking at Carole, "You stay tonight with me." I tried not to show the jolt of fear that went through me. But the women are getting college degrees, even going into engineering, I've heard-- My students may be the first, and someday things may change.

He’s the man who lives within everyone of us, but is locked in the dungeon of our heart and we would never want anyone to hear his thoughts. He’s the bad side of me that no one thinks I have. Everyone believes I’m the gentle person who just takes the slap on the face and then turns the other cheek. What people don’t know is that if I’m hurt by someone and lose control, then the beast within me speaks and acts out. He’s the dragon that once ruled my life, but now is in a cage somewhere in my heart. He’s the person I could be if he gets out of his cage and comes forth. He’s the one who speaks in this book. He’s the side of me you’d never want to know.

Maybe his confession is true and some strange crime is happening. These books are available as a box set and individually. You need to read all four to complete the story. Amanda and Jade, two policewomen who work in different towns, but who have been friends for years, meet for a friendly chat. By chance they each tell a story of a strange confession they had to listen to. Both unbelievable confessions are just about identical. This immediately makes one thing obvious to them - there has to be a criminal somewhere doing something no one had ever heard of before. The two confessions are too alike for it to be a coincidence. Their first problem is to prove these two incidents were committed by the same person while showing beyond doubt it isn't some sort of elaborate hoax. As the story follows the investigation, the women hear more about some of these 'mad confessions' and go on the trail of the man responsible. Eventually all the pieces start to fall into place, but there is one thing they can't get a handle on, no matter which way they look at it. That is how the criminal chose his victims. Book 2 sees Amanda and Jade interrogating one of the so-called mad-men, who seems to be quite sane, providing he is telling the truth. The two officers believe he is. There is also some turmoil and upset in the station, but as that gets sorted, so a call comes that is the one they have been waiting for. They rush off to speak to yet another man who wants to confess to the same thing. This time he isn't thought to be insane.

The women are given a week to come up with something that proves there really is a serial criminal is doing these terrible things. They search in obvious ways, contacting police forces all over the country, but with little or no results. Then one of them has an idea about how to find more cases of this type. Soon they have other, similar circumstances relating to crimes, but their boss isn't convinced, as many of the confessions came from people who ended up in insane asylums.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Confessions of a Madman personalizes the struggle of a civil war by following the fragmentation and irreversible separation of a single family. Written in alternating flashbacks and descriptions of a man s present, Sebbar delivers what French critics call a modern fable for adults: a tale of familial disorientation, identity, violence, and morality. A young man observes his mother go crazy waiting for her murdered husband to return home. Despite his estrangement with his father, the son vows to avenge his father s death by murdering his father s killers. In delving into his father s past, he discovers his role in an unsuccessful revolt and soon finds himself following in his father s footsteps. He finds himself questioning the value of religious standards and cultural traditions when confronted with sociopolitical conflict. This text discusses the meaningfulness of cultural traditions, their origins, and their potential contemporary repercussions when juxtaposed with a modern context of events."

In Confessions of an Innocent Man, the dream comes true and in a spectacular way.”—John Grisham, New York Times bestselling author of The Reckoning A thrillingly suspenseful debut novel and a fierce howl of rage that questions the true meaning of justice. Rafael Zhettah relishes the simplicity and freedom of his life. He is the owner and head chef of a promising Houston restaurant, a pilot with open access to the boundless Texas horizon, and a bachelor, content with having few personal or material attachments that ground him. Then, lightning strikes. When he finds Tieresse—billionaire, philanthropist, sophisticate, bombshell—sitting at one of his tables, he also finds his soul mate and his life starts again. And just as fast, when she is brutally murdered in their home, when he is convicted of the crime, when he is sentenced to die, it is all ripped away. But for Rafael Zhettah, death row is not the end. It is only the beginning. Now, with his recaptured freedom, he will stop at nothing to deliver justice to those who stole everything from him. This is a heart-stoppingly suspenseful, devastating, page-turning debut novel. A thriller with a relentless grip that wants you to read it in one sitting. David R. Dow has dedicated his life to the fight against capital punishment—to righting the horrific injustices of the death penalty regime in Texas. He delivers the perfect modern parable for exploring our complex, uneasy relationships with punishment and reparation in a terribly unjust world.
