Book Synopsis Computer Organization and Assembly Language Programming by : James L. Peterson
Download or read book Computer Organization and Assembly Language Programming written by James L. Peterson and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 465 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer Organization and Assembly Language Programming deals with lower level computer programming-machine or assembly language, and how these are used in the typical computer system. The book explains the operations of the computer at the machine language level. The text reviews basic computer operations, organization, and deals primarily with the MIX computer system. The book describes assembly language programming techniques, such as defining appropriate data structures, determining the information for input or output, and the flow of control within the program. The text explains basic I/O programming concepts, technique of interrupts, and an overlapped I/O. The text also describes the use of subroutines to reduce the number of codes that are repetitively written for the program. An assembler can translate a program from assembly language into a loader code for loading into the computer's memory for execution. A loader can be of several types such as absolute, relocatable, or a variation of the other two types. A linkage editor links various small segments into one large segment with an output format similar to an input format for easier program handling. The book also describes the use of other programming languages which can offer to the programmer the power of an assembly language by his using the syntax of a higher-level language. The book is intended as a textbook for a second course in computer programming, following the recommendations of the ACM Curriculum 68 for Course B2 "Computers and Programming.

Download or read book Computer–Assisted Research in the Humanities written by Joseph Raben and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-18 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer-Assisted Research in the Humanities describes various computer-assisted research in the humanities and related social sciences. It is a compendium of data collected between November 1966 and May 1972 and published in Computer and the Humanities. The book begins with an analysis of language teaching texts including the DOVACK system, a program used for remedial reading instruction. It then discusses the objectives, types of computer used, and status of the Bibliographic On-line Display (BOLD), semiotic systems, augmented human intellect program, automatic indexing, and similar research. The remaining chapters present computer-assisted research on language and literature, philosophy, social sciences, and visual arts. Students who seek a single reference work for computer-assisted research in the humanities will find this book useful.

This book was released on 1985 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field known as computer assisted instruction or CAI as it is commonly called, has gained considerable interest and support since the advent of the microcomputer. More and more people, including those in supervisory positions are beginning to see the advantages, both cost and time, in having training available in the workplace. This thesis developed a training package for use on the Zenith Z-100 microcomputer. The package consists of six lessons and three programs. The six lessons cover various topic dealing with the C programming language. The objective of these lessons is to present an introduction to the C programming language. The three programs are written in the Pascal programming language and are used for the following functions: 1. Provide a means of displaying the lesson material. 2. Provide a means of checking student progress. 3. Provide a means of displaying course statistics. Keywords: computer program documentation; and computer files.

Book Synopsis A Macro System for Computer Assisted Instruction by : ARMY SIGNAL CENTER AND SCHOOL FORT MONMOUTH N J COMPUTER ASSISTED INSTRUCTION PROJECT.
Download or read book A Macro System for Computer Assisted Instruction written by ARMY SIGNAL CENTER AND SCHOOL FORT MONMOUTH N J COMPUTER ASSISTED INSTRUCTION PROJECT. and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The macro system is implemented within the Coursewriter programming language. It is designed as a time saving system to eliminate the repetitive coding of general routines. These routines, consisting of a series of instructions originally developed to handle one particular problem (or problem section), can, with little or no modification, be incorporated in other lessons or problems. Utilization of the macros is similar to that of a subroutine. The difference between them is that a subroutine is a self-contained unit which is separate from the main program, whereas, a macro consists of a set of frequently used instructions that are included in and dependent upon the normal flow of the main program.
