Book Synopsis Two-Dimensional Separated Flows by : S. M. Belotserkovsky
Download or read book Two-Dimensional Separated Flows written by S. M. Belotserkovsky and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992-11-30 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two-Dimensional Separated Flows provides a systematic presentation of the theory of separated flow around bodies. The main classes of aerodynamic problems of plane-parallel flow around bodies are described, and the steady aerodynamic, unsteady aerodynamic, and statistical characteristics of a trailing wake are determined. Numerical methods based on the synthesis of models for non-viscous incompressible flow and boundary layer, algorithms, examples, and systematic comparisons are presented. The book also includes numerical results for the problem of separated flow around fixed, oscillating, and rotating cylinders, in addition to results for separated flow around an aerofoil over a wide range of angles. Two-Dimensional Separated Flows will benefit researchers and students studying aerodynamics, aircraft dynamics, aeroelasticity, and the aerodynamics of building structures.

Book Synopsis A Separation Model for Two-Dimensional Airfoils in Transonic Flow by : Frank A. Dvorak
Download or read book A Separation Model for Two-Dimensional Airfoils in Transonic Flow written by Frank A. Dvorak and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 41 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A calculation method for transonic separated flow about two-dimensional airfoils at incidence is presented in this report. The method is capable of predicting the effects of both leading- and trailing-edge separated flows, although the former is usually associated with a complete collapse of the airfoil flow field, in which case the flow is no longer supercritical. A viscous potential flow iteration procedure provides the connection between potential flow, boundary layer and wake modules. The separated wake is modelled in the potential flow analysis by thin sheets across which exists a jump in velocity potential. These sheets are analogous to vorticity sheets in incompressible flow. The basic potential flow method is a modification of Jameson's full potential method. Calculations for four different airfoils have been compared with experiment for pressure distributions as well as integrated forces. The agreement between theory and experiment is generally good even when shock waves are present. (Author).

This book was released on 2003 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The flow-field around a multi-element airfoil with leading-edge slat and trailing edge flap in landing configuration was performed as well as the prediction of the time dependent flow over a NACA 0012 airfoil. The two dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with a numerical method based on the pseudo compressibility approach was developed to simulate viscous turbulent flow around single and multi-element airfoils. The algorithm uses upwind-biased scheme of third order accuracy for the calculation of the inviscid fluxes, while a second order central differencing in sued for viscous fluxes, the equations are solved using Lower-Upper Symmetric Gauss Seidel (LU-SGS) schemes. The grids around multi-element airfoil are efficiently generated using a multi-block structure technique. The Baldwin-Lomax algebraic turbulence model is used to consider the effect of turbulence. Computed results for the studied cases were compared with experimental data in terms of surface pressure and lift coefficients which show reasonable agreement.

This book was released on 1997 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thesis, the separation bubble behavior and its effect on the steady and dynamic stall characteristics of a thin airfoil in a compressible flow at a transitional Reynolds number was studied. For such flows, laminar separation occurs near the airfoil leading edge, but turbulent reattachment occurs within a short distance downstream, forming a separation bubble in the underlying region. Two experimental techniques, point diffraction interferometry (PDI) and laser doppler velocimetry (LDV), were used to acquire detailed flowfield information that showed the development of the leading-edge separation bubble and its subsequent bursting at higher angles of attack. The initiation of the stall process from the leading-edge separation bubble as opposed to trailing-edge flow reversal pointed to the need for transitional flow analysis. Both in the boundary layer and Reynolds-averaged, Navier-Stokes (N-S) analysis methods, transition models were incorporated to determine the location and extent of the transition zone that best modeled the measured separation bubble behavior. Computed results for steady flow gave remarkable agreement with the measurements.
