Book Synopsis Rotorcraft Aeromechanics by : Wayne Johnson
Download or read book Rotorcraft Aeromechanics written by Wayne Johnson and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-04-29 with total page 949 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A rotorcraft is a class of aircraft that uses large-diameter rotating wings to accomplish efficient vertical take-off and landing. The class encompasses helicopters of numerous configurations (single main rotor and tail rotor, tandem rotors, coaxial rotors), tilting proprotor aircraft, compound helicopters, and many other innovative configuration concepts. Aeromechanics covers much of what the rotorcraft engineer needs: performance, loads, vibration, stability, flight dynamics, and noise. These topics include many of the key performance attributes and the often-encountered problems in rotorcraft designs. This comprehensive book presents, in depth, what engineers need to know about modelling rotorcraft aeromechanics. The focus is on analysis, and calculated results are presented to illustrate analysis characteristics and rotor behaviour. The first third of the book is an introduction to rotorcraft aerodynamics, blade motion, and performance. The remainder of the book covers advanced topics in rotary wing aerodynamics and dynamics.

Book Synopsis Boundary Element Methods by : S. Kobayashi
Download or read book Boundary Element Methods written by S. Kobayashi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Boundary Element Methods (BEM) has become one of the most efficient tools for solving various kinds of problems in engineering science. The International Association for Boundary Element Methods (IABEM) was established in order to promote and facilitate the exchange of scientific ideas related to the theory and applications of boundary element methods. The aim of this symposium is to provide a forum for researchers in boundary element methods and boundary-integral formulations in general to present contemporary concepts and techniques leading to the advancement of capabilities and understanding of this com putational methodology. The topics covered in this symposium include mathematical and computational aspects, applications to solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, acoustics, electromagnetics, heat transfer, optimization, control, inverse problems and other interdisciplinary problems. Papers deal ing with the coupling of the boundary element method with other computational methods are also included. The editors hope that this volume presents some innovative techniques and useful knowl edge for the development of the boundary element methods. February, 1992 S. Kobayashi N. Book Synopsis Nonlinear Helicopter Rotor Lifting Surface Theory by : Hsi F. Chou
Download or read book Nonlinear Helicopter Rotor Lifting Surface Theory written by Hsi F. Chou and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Green's function approach for the subsonic compressible potential flow over a helicopter rotor in hover or steady state vertical climb was examined. Several methods of approach were taken to derive the Green's function. An attempt to derive the Green's function directly from the differential equation written in the non-inertial coordinate system was not successful. However, since the Green's function was known in the inertial system, a transformation of the integral equation for the velocity potential in this system was transformed successfully to the blade fixed coordinate system. The resulting integral equation involves surface derivatives which preclude the use of previous numerical schemes for its solution. A second part of the report includes the results of the second iteration for the force-free wake of a rotor in hover.
