Book Synopsis Composite Structures by : I.H. Marshall
Download or read book Composite Structures written by I.H. Marshall and published by Springer. This book was released on 1991-09-30 with total page 872 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers contained herein were presented at the Sixth International Conference on Composite Structures (ICCS/6) held at Paisley College, Scotland in September 1991. The Conference was organised and sponsored by Paisley College. It was co-sponsored by Scottish Enterprise, the National Engineering Laboratory, the US Army Research, Development and Standardisation Group-UK, Strathclyde Regional Council and Renfrew District Council. It forms a natural and ongoing progression from the highly successful ICCS/1/2/3/4 and 5 held at Paisley in 1981, 1983, 1985, 1987 and 1989 respectively. As we enter the final decade of this century many organisations throughout the world are adopting a prophetic role by attempting to forecast future scientific advances and their associated impact on mankind. Although some would argue that to do so is folly, without such futuristic visionaries the world would be that much poorer. IntelJigent speculation based on research trends and historical advances, rather than fanciful theories, breathes a healthy air of enthusiasm into the scientific community. Surely this is the very oxygen necessary to ignite the fir~s of innovation and invention amongst pioneers of research.

Download or read book Composite Materials in Design Processes written by Giangiacomo Minak and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-09-02 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of composite materials in the design process allows one to tailer a component’s mechanical properties, thus reducing its overall weight. On the one hand, the possible combinations of matrices, reinforcements, and technologies provides more options to the designer. On the other hand, it increases the fields that need to be investigated in order to obtain all the information requested for a safe design. This Applied Sciences Special Issue, “Composite Materials in Design Processes”, collects recent advances in the design methods for components made of composites and composite material properties at a laminate level or using a multi-scale approach.

Book Synopsis Women in Psychiatry 2023: ADHD by : Annet Bluschke
Download or read book Women in Psychiatry 2023: ADHD written by Annet Bluschke and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-08-26 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At present, fewer than 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are discouraging girls and women away from science-related fields, and STEM research in particular. Science and gender equality are, however, essential to ensure sustainable development as highlighted by UNESCO. In order to change traditional mindsets, gender equality must be promoted, stereotypes defeated, and girls and women should be encouraged to pursue STEM careers. Therefore, Frontiers in Psychiatry is proud to offer this platform to promote the work of women scientists, across all fields of Psychiatry. The work presented here highlights the diversity of research performed across the entire breadth of Psychiatry research and presents advances in theory, experiment, and methodology with applications to compelling problems. Please note: To be considered for this collection, the first or last author should be a researcher who identifies as a woman.
