This book was released on 2016-10-20 with total page 519 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing extensive coverage of international trade law from an economic development perspective, this second edition of Reclaiming Development in the World Trading System offers discussion of key principles of international trade law, trade measures, trade and development issues, and regulatory reform. Including such topics as the most-favored-nation principle, national treatment, and tariff binding, Lee also offers insightful analysis into new areas pertaining to agriculture and textile, trade-related investment, intellectual property rights, and trade in services. Looking at trade and development issues in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, as well as microtrade, an innovative international trade system designed to relieve the absolute poverty of least-developed countries, this book is essential reading that gives context to development interests and advances specific regulatory and institutional reform proposals. Lee lends insight into these topics with case analysis exemplifying how our trading systems have been adopted by the developing world in order to foster their own economic development.

This book was released on 2012-08-16 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Better designed and implemented fiscal regimes for oil, gas, and mining can make a substantial contribution to the revenue needs of many developing countries while ensuring an attractive return for investors, according to a new policy paper from the International Monetary Fund. Revenues from extractive industries (EIs) have major macroeconomic implications. The EIs account for over half of government revenues in many petroleum-rich countries, and for over 20 percent in mining countries. About one-third of IMF member countries find (or could find) resource revenues “macro-critical” – especially with large numbers of recent new discoveries and planned oil, gas, and mining developments. IMF policy advice and technical assistance in the field has massively expanded in recent years – driven by demand from member countries and supported by increased donor finance. The paper sets out the analytical framework underpinning, and key elements of, the country-specific advice given. Also available in Arabic: ????? ??????? ?????? ???????? ???????????: ??????? ???????? Book Synopsis Compensatory Trade Strategy by : John I Akhile
Download or read book Compensatory Trade Strategy written by John I Akhile and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2006-02 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is only one reason why writing a book on this subject matter is relevant to our times. And it is due to the fact that African nations, like most developing countries, need a new approach to issues relating to the challenge of creating sustained economic development. Compensatory Trade Strategy represents a multiple options plan for establishing and implementing trade arrangements in developing countries, particularly in times of hard currency shortage. Author John Akhile brings twenty-five years of experience on the conduct and finance of international trade, specifically on sub-Saharan Africa, and offers a new look at this global crisis. With his comprehensive approach, Akhile creates a basic plan for those interested in compensatory trade. For developing countries, Akhile presents strategies for creating new industrial development projects and for arranging trade transactions for critical supplies. For companies who are seeking to continue and even expand existing opportunities, Compensatory Trade Strategy is a road map for achieving both objectives.

The particular mix of policy measures, however, will depend on country-specific conditions, capacities, and preferences. The paper draws on the Fund’s extensive technical assistance on fiscal reforms as well as several analytical studies, including a novel approach for country studies, a statistical analysis of growth accelerations following fiscal reforms, and simulations of an endogenous growth model.
