In most of the prior emotion detection studies, the focus was on facial expression, speech signal and body language analysis for affect recognition [2], an approach that is not suitable for all subject especially seniors, small children and persons with psychiatric disability, that cannot express their feeling correctly [3]. Also, those studies were conducted in limited and exclusive controlled environments like labs or studios. This thesis justifies using modern, wearable computers (in this case Microsoft band) to capture user's biometric signals while they are playing minesweeper game in a 3D environment as a simulation to a real-world experience and assessing their emotional status. Emotion assessment was proceeded using support vector machine (SVM) and K nearest neighbor (KNN), machine learning algorithms.
