Con este objetivo se formula oficialmente en el año 1988 el estándar Passivhaus. En este sentido, el diseño solar pasivo representa una de las estrategias más importantes en el estándar Passivhaus para reemplazar los combustibles fósiles convencionales. La radiación solar supone una forma de energía pasiva que permite evitar la dependencia de los combustibles fósiles y supone el consiguiente ahorro en la factura energética. En el diseño solar pasivo tiene una importancia considerable la orientación de la vivienda. Por este motivo, en el presente documento se analizará la influencia en la disposición de la vivienda con respecto al sol. A partir de ahí, se extraerán los resultados y conclusiones oportunos. Se comprobará que una misma vivienda puede cumplir o no el estándar Passivhaus dependiendo de su orientación con respecto al sol. Generalmente, en el hemisferio norte, una orientación sur de la vivienda será beneficiosa en términos de ahorro energético. En los casos en los resultados no se ajusten a los valores determinados por el estándar Passivhaus, se propondrán las modificaciones necesarias en la vivienda para el cumplimiento del mismo.
