There has been limited research on the social and physical well-being of communities affected by these changes in Newfoundland. Research in other regions would suggest that certain communities may be more resilient than others. The challenge taken up in this report is to describe the changes in community well-being during the 1990s and to identify factors that explain community variability"--page v.
