Book excerpt: We combine results from searches by the CDF and D0 Collaborations for a standard model Higgs boson (H) in the processes gg → H → W+W− and gg → H → ZZ in p{bar p} collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at √s = 1.96 TeV. With 8.2 fb−1 of integrated luminosity analyzed at CDF and 8.1 fb−1 at D0, the 95% C.L. upper limit on [sigma](gg → H) x [Beta](H → W+W−) is 1.01 pb at m{sub H} = 120 GeV, 0.40 pb at m{sub H} = 165 GeV, and 0.47 pb at m{sub H} = 200 GeV. Assuming the presence of a fourth sequential generation of fermions with large masses, we exclude at the 95% Confidence Level a standard-model-like Higgs boson with a mass between 124 and 286 GeV.

Book excerpt: We combine results from CDF and D0 on direct searches for the standard model (SM) Higgs boson (H) in p{bar p} collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron at (square root)s = 1.96 TeV. Compared to the previous Tevatron Higgs search combination more data have been added, additional new channels have been incorporated, and some previously used channels have been reanalyzed to gain sensitivity. We use the latest parton distribution functions and gg --> H theoretical cross sections when comparing our limits to the SM predictions. With up to 5.9 fb−1 of data analyzed at CDF, and up to 6.7 fb−1 at D0, the 95% C.L. upper limits on Higgs boson production are factors of 1.56 and 0.68 the values of the SM cross section for a Higgs boson mass of m{sub H} = 115 GeV/c2 and 165 GeV/c2. We exclude, at the 95% C.L., a new and larger region at high mass between 158

Compared to the previous Tevatron Higgs boson search combination more data have been added, additional channels have been incorporated, and some previously used channels have been reanalyzed to gain sensitivity. With up to 8.2 fb−1 of data analyzed at CDF and up to 8.6 fb−1 at D0, the 95% C.L. our upper limits on Higgs boson production are factors of 1.17, 1.71, and 0.48 times the values of the SM cross section for Higgs bosons of mass m{sub H} = 115 GeV/c2, 140 GeV/c2, and 165 GeV/c2, respectively. The corresponding median upper limits expected in the absence of Higgs boson production are 1.16, 1.16, and 0.57. There is a small (≈ 1[sigma]) excess of data events with respect to the background estimation in searches for the Higgs boson in the mass range 125

Book excerpt: We combine results from CDF and D0 on direct searches for a standard model (SM) Higgs boson (H) in p{bar p} collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron at (square root)s = 1.96 TeV. Compared to the previous Tevatron Higgs search combination more data have been added and some previously used channels have been reanalyzed to gain sensitivity. We use the latest parton distribution functions and gg --> H theoretical cross sections when comparing our limits to the SM predictions. With 2.0-4.8 fb−1 of data analyzed at CDF, and 2.1-5.4 fb−1 at D0, the 95% C.L. upper limits on Higgs boson production are a factor of 2.70 (0.94) times the SM cross section for a Higgs boson mass of m{sub H} = 115 (165) GeV/c2. The corresponding median upper limits expected in the absence of Higgs boson production are 1.78 (0.89). The mass range excluded at 95% C.L. for a SM Higgs is 163

Book excerpt: We combine results from CDF and D0's direct searches for the standard model (SM) Higgs boson (H) produced in p{bar p} collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron at √s = 1.96 TeV. This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combined results are presented on the search for a neutral Higgs boson in the di-tau final state using 1.8 fb−1 and 2.2 fb−1 of integrated luminosity collected at the CDF and D0 experiments respectively. Data were collected in p{bar p} collisions at a centre of mass energy of 1.96 TeV during RunII of the Tevatron. Limits are set on the cross section x branching ratio ranging from 13.6 pb to 0.653 pb for Higgs masses from 90 GeV to 200 GeV respectively. The results are then interpreted as limits in four different benchmark scenarios within the framework of the MSSM.

Book Synopsis Improving Higgs Sensitivity at CDF by Introducing New Muon Triggers by :
Download or read book Improving Higgs Sensitivity at CDF by Introducing New Muon Triggers written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for Standard Model Higgs boson production in the H → WW → l?jj channel using 5.7 fb−1 of CDF II data is presented. The search is performed using a matrix element technique in which event probability densities for the signal and background hypotheses are calculated and used to create a powerful disciminator (called the event probability discriminant, EPD). The EPD distributions for signal and background are fit to the data using a binned likelihood approach to search for the Higgs boson signal. To improve the limits on the H production cross section, a new muon category, CMP, is added. No evidence for a Higgs boson signal is observed, and 95% confidence level upper limits on the H cross section times the branching ratio of the Higgs boson to decay to two W of?(p{bar p} → H) x BR(H → WW)/SM

Download or read book Combination of CDF and D0 Results on the Mass of the Top Quark written by and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We summarize the top-quark mass measurements from the CDF and D0 experiments at Fermilab. We combine published Run-I (1992-1996) measurements with the most recent preliminary Run-II (2001-present) measurements using up to 1 fb−1 of data. Taking correlated uncertainties properly into account the resulting preliminary world average mass of the top quark is M{sub t} = 171.4 ± 1.2(stat) ± 1.8(syst) GeV/c2, which corresponds to a total uncertainty of 2.1 GeV/c2. The top-quark mass is now known with a precision of 1.2%.

This book was released on 2011 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We summarize the top-quark mass measurements from the CDF and D0 experiments at Fermilab. We combine published Run I (1992--1996) measurements with the most precise published and preliminary Run II (2001--present) measurements using up to 5.8 fb−1 of data, adding new analyses (the missing transverse energy plus jets analysis) and updating old ones. Taking uncertainty correlations into account, and adding in quadrature the statistical and systematic uncertainties, the resulting preliminary Tevatron average mass of the top quark is M{sub t} = 173.2 ± 0.9 GeV/c2.
