Book Synopsis Models for Concurrency by : Uri Abraham
Download or read book Models for Concurrency written by Uri Abraham and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-08-27 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concurrent systems are generally understood in terms of behavioral notions. Models for Concurrency analyzes the subject in terms of events and their temporal relationship rather than on global states. It presents a comprehensive analysis of model theory applied to concurrent protocols, and seeks to provide a theory of concurrency that is both intuitively appealing and rigorously based on mathematical foundations. The book is divided into three main sections. The first introduces the required concepts from model theory, details the structures that are used to model concurrency, gives an in-depth description and explanation of the semantics of a simple language that allows concurrent execution of sequential programs, and deals with the question of resolving executions into higher-level and lower-level granularities. The second and third sections apply the theory developed to practical examples, and an exposition of the producer/consumer problem with details of two solutions is given. The author also deals with message passing, as opposed to shared memory.

Download or read book More Precisely written by Eric Steinhart and published by Broadview Press. This book was released on 2009-01-29 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More Precisely provides a rigorous and engaging introduction to the mathematics necessary to do philosophy. It is impossible to fully understand much of the most important work in contemporary philosophy without a basic grasp of set theory, functions, probability, modality and infinity. Until now, this knowledge was difficult to acquire. Professors had to provide custom handouts to their classes, while students struggled through math texts searching for insight. More Precisely fills this key gap. Eric Steinhart provides lucid explanations of the basic mathematical concepts and sets out most commonly used notational conventions. Furthermore, he demonstrates how mathematics applies to many fundamental issues in branches of philosophy such as metaphysics, philosophy of language, epistemology, and ethics.

Book Synopsis The JGuy's Guide by : Joseph B. Meszler
Download or read book The JGuy's Guide written by Joseph B. Meszler and published by Jewish Lights Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it mean to be a young Jewish man? Who am I? How do I feel about myself? Do I seem cool? Do I fit in? These overarching teen boys' concerns are addressed head on through the voices of contemporary Jewish teens, men, and biblical and historical stories. The JGuy's Guide helps young teens see how Judaism can help them navigate the often choppy waters of adolescence while it strengthens Jewish identity and pride. This interactive book encourages personal reflection and discussion, making it ideal for the individual teenager as well as education and discussion groups. Its candid approach explores dilemmas boys face in their daily lives: the pressure to excel at sports, school and social life; the courage to speak up when friends make questionable choices or parents act hypocritically; and more. Like the Talmud, the book offers many perspectives and reflection questions to help boys find their own truths.
Book Synopsis Graphs from Rings by : David F. Anderson
Download or read book Graphs from Rings written by David F. Anderson and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-10-31 with total page 548 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives an overview of research on graphs associated with commutative rings. The study of the connections between algebraic structures and certain graphs, especially finite groups and their Cayley graphs, is a classical subject which has attracted a lot of interest. More recently, attention has focused on graphs constructed from commutative rings, a field of study which has generated an extensive amount of research over the last three decades. The aim of this text is to consolidate this large body of work into a single volume, with the intention of encouraging interdisciplinary research between algebraists and graph theorists, using the tools of one subject to solve the problems of the other. The topics covered include the graphical and topological properties of zero-divisor graphs, total graphs and their transformations, and other graphs associated with rings. The book will be of interest to researchers in commutative algebra and graph theory and anyone interested in learning about the connections between these two subjects.
