Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the technology of cryogenic comminution has been widely applied in the field of chemical engineering, food making, medicine production, and particularly in recycling of waste materials. Because of the increasing pollution of waste tires and the shortage of raw rubber resource, the recycling process for waste rubber products has become important and commercially viable. This technology has shown a great number of advantages such as causing no environmental pollution, requiring low energy consumption and producing high quality products. Hence, the normal crusher which was used to reclaim materials, such as waste tires, nylon, plastic and many polymer materials at atmospheric 12 temperature is being replaced by a cryogenic crusher. • In the cryogenic crusher, the property of the milled material is usually very sensitive to temperature change. When a crusher is in operation, it will generate a great deal of heat that causes the material temperature increased. Once the temperature increases over the vitrification temperature, the material property will change and lose the brittle behavior causing the energy consumption to rise sharply. Consequently, the comminution process cannot be continued. Therefore, it is believed that the cryogenic crusher is the most critical component in the cryogenic comminution system. The research on the temperature increase and energy consumption in the cryogenic crusher is not only to reduce the energy consumption of the crasher, but also to reduce the energy consumption of the cryogenic system.

This is a fantastic set of books for this new series. They involve many characters that Simone has been writing for years. I'm absolutely hooked! The feels - good, bad, and steamy - are all there. The story is riveting. The only bad things are related to Hickman and Katya's past, and the flipping cliffhangers! (I swear that Simone is trying to do me in with some of them.). 😂 I can't wait to see what this band of misfits will do next!" Book excerpt: Almost every modern manufacturing process relies on industrial gases, and sales of such gases are expected to rise by around 45% over the next five years. Here, experienced and authoritative experts from one of the two world's largest producer of industrial gases impart their knowledge on atmospheric, noble and synthesized gases, carbon dioxide, LNG, acetylene and other fuel gases, as well as special and medical gases. Modern applications, e.g., the use of hydrogen in fuel cells, are included as well. This practical text is rounded off by a section on logistics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combustion technology has traditionally been dominated by air/fuel combustion. However, two developments have increased the significance of oxygen-enhanced combustion—new technologies that produce oxygen less expensively and the increased importance of environmental regulations. Advantages of oxygen-enhanced combustion include less pollutant emissions as well as increased energy efficiency and productivity. Oxygen-Enhanced Combustion, Second Edition compiles information about using oxygen to enhance industrial heating and melting processes. It integrates fundamental principles, applications, and equipment design in one volume, making it a unique resource for specialists implementing the use of oxygen in combustion systems. This second edition of the bestselling book has more than doubled in size. Extensively updated and expanded, it covers significant advances in the technology that have occurred since the publication of the first edition. What’s New in This Edition Expanded from 11 chapters to 30, with most of the existing chapters revised A broader view of oxygen-enhanced combustion, with more than 50 contributors from over 20 organizations around the world More coverage of fundamentals, including fluid flow, heat transfer, noise, flame impingement, CFD modeling, soot formation, burner design, and burner testing New chapters on applications such as flameless combustion, steel reheating, iron production, cement production, power generation, fluidized bed combustion, chemicals and petrochemicals, and diesel engines This book offers a unified, up-to-date look at important commercialized uses of oxygen-enhanced combustion in a wide range of industries. It brings together the latest knowledge to assist those researching, engineering, and implementing combustion in power plants, engines, and other applications.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fifth annual International Symposium on the Super Collider was a great success. Over 700 participants from around the country and the world gathered on May 6-8,1993, in San Francisco to mark the progress of the SSC, to discuss current issues, and to chart a course of action for the continued development of our understanding of basic subatomic matter. Together, the American public, academic communities, private sectors and governments from around the world have embarked on a project critical to maintaining our nation's preeminence as the world's leader in basic scientific research and the practical application of scientific knowledge. America has long maintained a commitment to investing in our nation's future. The Super Collider represents an essential next step in the direction of scope of human knowledge. The theme of the conference reflects these important goals: "SSC Focusing the World on Next Generation Science. " The challenge for us today is to spread the message of the importance of investing in America's future. This is our task, and the task of supporters of the Super Colliderthroughout the nation. Without employing all of our energies, our nation will miss an historic opportunity to ensure America's scientific technological and economic leadership in the years ahead as we enter the next millennium.

It offers an overview of the basics of cryogenics and information on process design for modern industrial plants. Throughout, the book helps readers visualize the theories of thermodynamics related to cryogenics in practice. A central concept in the book is the connection between the theoretical world of process design and the real limitations given by available hardware components and systems. Sample topics covered in Process Design for Cryogenics include: Cryogenic gases like nitrogen, oxygen, argon, neon, hydrogen, helium, and methane Thermodynamics Typical cryogenic refrigeration processes, including the classic Joule Thomson process, the contemporary mixed-gas Joule Thomson process, and expander-based processes like Brayton and Claude cycles Helium and hydrogen liquefaction and air separation Process Design for Cryogenics is a comprehensive must-have resource for engineers and scientists working in academia and industry on cryogenic processes.
