Book excerpt: In this audacious, lightning-paced thriller, a smart-mouthed, white-collar drug dealer--a hilariously irreverent antihero--seeks revenge when an unknown enemy takes out a contract on him. Jack Price is having a bad day. What he absolutely did not need was for someone to execute his grouchy old neighbor as if she was a drug mule. Questions will be asked, and Jack is a small businessman in a competitive sector hobbled by red tape and, you know: laws. Just because the product Jack trades in is cocaine, people assume it’s all guns and murders, but that is the old cocaine business and Jack is all about the new one: high-tech, high-end and on-demand. But when Jack begins making some inquiries with a view to calming the whole thing down, someone hires the Seven Demons to kill him. You bring those people in to kill generals and presidents and take down countries, not to mess with a guy who’s just trying to get along. The thing is that the Seven Demons and their client have misunderstood the situation. Jack is not upset. In fact, he’s grateful for the clarification. Jack is the kind of guy who adapts well to new business models. He has a unique approach to executive problem solving. In fact, Jack is batshit crazy. And when you mess with Jack, there is a Price to be paid.

Book excerpt: "A Very Minor Prophet" is the story of how Barth Flynn, a barista swimming upstream against purposelessness in Portland, Oregon, becomes the faithful scribe of Joseph Patrick Booker. Booker is a dwarf preacher who serves Voodoo donuts, Stumptown coffee, and, while his congregation throws PBR cans at him, rants about George W. Bush during the height of the 2004 presidential election. BarthOCOs Portland is a world of bikes, zines, and cheap beer, but itOCOs also a confined world, full of the desperate search to find meaning. In this lonely setting, Barth passes time learning trivial details, like the dozens of Gaelic words for rain. During BarthOCOs quest for human connection, he meets the passionate Booker, who sees light in the gray world and strives to help people think and believe in something and to find connections with each other. BarthOCOs fascination with Booker becomes a friendship that comes to define his life, as he discovers himself, his city, and his budding feelings for an enigmatic bike messenger who helps distribute BookerOCOs gospel in the form of zines. "A Very Minor Prophet" is a comic novel, a gospel, an ode to great coffee, a story of great friendship, great love, and of a man waking up in Portland, Oregon, to realize his life and his story is just beginning."

Table of Contents Introduction The Hidden Secret of Coffee A Shot in Your Arm and Wake up Drink??? Side Effects of Coffee Reversing coffee dependency Symptoms of caffeine withdrawal Coffee Intake Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction I decided to write this book, because this has to be an eye-opener for all of my friends, acquaintances, and readers from all over the world, who have a caffeine addiction, and do not know that they are suffering from it. They are suffering from coffee poisoning. My mom suffers from it. She cannot wake up without having 3 cups of coffee, and it is only then that she decides that it is time to take notice of the world. I found that she was suffering from this addiction, about 15 years ago, when she arrived at our house, and loudly demanded coffee to help relax her after a tiring journey of about 500 miles. After that, every morning, before breakfast, we had to give her coffee, before she would speak or even think anything coherently. She is suffering from coffee addiction. She is 77 now, and still, even if she does not eat breakfast or lunch or dinner, she makes do with large amounts of coffee. Not being a Tea or a coffee drinker, of course, I find this addiction very funny, because I am not addicted to any mind changing chemical poisons like caffeine, tannin in tea , alcohol and nicotine. My liquid of choice has always been fresh fruit juice. And water at night. And that is why, I wanted to know why so many people all over the world are addicted to coffee, and the harmful long-term side effects of this addiction.

Book excerpt: The Business of Aspiration is about how consumers' shifting status symbols affect business and brand strategy. These changing status symbols, like taste, aesthetic innovation, curation or environmentalism create the modern aspirational economy. In the traditional economy, consumers signaled their status through collecting commodities, Instagram followers, airline miles, and busy back-to-back schedules. By contrast, in the aspirational economy, consumers increasingly convey status through collecting knowledge, taste, micro-communities, and influence. This new capital changes the way businesses and entire markets operate, and yet the modern aspirational economy is still an under-explored area in business and culture. The Business of Aspiration changes that. In this book, marketers will find examples, analyses and tools on how brands can successfully grow in the modern aspirational economy. The Business of Aspiration answers questions like, "what is good for my brand long-term?", "how is this business decision going to impact our culture?" or "what are the main objectives of our growth?" Marketers will learn to shift their brand narrative and competitive strategy, to create and distribute new brand symbols, and to ensure that their brand’s products and services create both monetary and social value.

Book excerpt: If I've learned anything in my twenty-one years, it's how to play it safe. My rules are simple... Don't lose sight of the prize in your last year of college. Don't get distracted by the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas. And don't fall for guys who make you question everything. I've been doing so well, too...until my best friend drags me to a trendy Vegas nightclub to celebrate the beginning of winter break. I might be wearing my sexiest dress, but that doesn't explain why I've caught the attention of three men who are too rich, too arrogant, and too hot for their own good. And they're not giving up. I know Shane, Nicholas, and Cole are keeping secrets from me. The question is—why? Blame it on my journalistic instincts, but I can't resist figuring out what they're up to. If I'm forced to go on a series of extravagant dates to find the answers I'm seeking, so be it. All in the name of research, right? But I probably should have reminded myself not to get in too deep. If I'm not careful, I won't only break my rules—I'll risk my heart. **Raising the Stakes is the first book in the Risking It trilogy, a reverse harem romance. It was previously published as a 35,000 word novella and was updated in October 2021 with 15,000 words of new content.
