Book Synopsis Codification of Maritime Law by : Zuzanna Pepłowska-Dąbrowska
Download or read book Codification of Maritime Law written by Zuzanna Pepłowska-Dąbrowska and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2019-11-21 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first of its kind to explore the problems inherent in the unification of maritime law. Featuring contributions from leading experts at European maritime law research centres, it considers international conventions, current maritime practice, standard forms and recently adopted or drafted national codifications of maritime law from the codification point of view. The book is divided into four parts which represent different views on the main topic. Part I gathers chapters dedicated to different aspects and methods of unification of maritime law on a global scale, as well as several specific issues of maritime law from the regulatory point of view. Part II of the book consists of those papers that centre around the issue of transport of goods. Part III is dedicated to codifications of carriage of passengers, cruise law and leisure navigation. Finally, Part IV addresses national codifications of maritime law. Codification of Maritime Law: Challenges, Possibilities and Experience seeks to provide common ground for future unification of maritime law, which makes the book useful both for private and public maritime lawyers and states’ maritime administrations worldwide.
Book Synopsis Introduction to Sustainable Transports by : Bernard Favre
Download or read book Introduction to Sustainable Transports written by Bernard Favre and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-02-19 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transport systems have to meet the mobility needs of people and commodities on all scales, from the local to the global level. Concerns about the energy, fumes and sound emissions produced, and about the safety, service quality, intelligence and lifecycle of the systems, etc. can all be included in a systemic approach. This approach can contribute to the development of sustainable solutions, for individual vehicles as well as for transport systems. Derived from an approach combining the social and physical sciences, these solutions result from the integration of physical objects, services and organizational processes, which involve several actors. Their harmonious organization contributes to the development of more virtuous transport systems for the future of urban and inter-urban mobility.

Book Synopsis Inland Waterway Transport by : Massimiliano Grimaldi
Download or read book Inland Waterway Transport written by Massimiliano Grimaldi and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-02-21 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyses the European legal framework on inland water transport in light of the most recent legislation adopted and how the main Member States of Central Western Europe have implemented it. Specifically, the book provides an innovative tool of analytical and systematic study of the various legislative EU measures that regulate the inland waterways transport sector, as well as for the comparative study and analysis of the relevant measures of implementation adopted by the afore-mentioned Member States. Each EU legislative measure is first explained in general terms and then commented on in detail with a specific analysis of the most significant articles, following a precise logical sequence of the topics; the corresponding national implementing measures are also examined in detail* describing any different ways of transposing the EU regulation, also with regard to any differences in approach by the Member States relative to the possibility of any derogations or exemptions from compliance with some measures, which is often provided for by the EU regulation. This approach is significantly useful for (i) a more systematic and user-friendly understanding of the EU regulatory framework, (ii) an equally better understanding of how EU measures have been transposed into national legislation and (iii) a revision of this European and domestic legislation, where appropriate. Furthermore, the book is very useful for policy-makers of countries that are not members of the European Union (i.e. policy-makers from countries worldwide that have inland waterways), as they will have a reference tool to evaluate the possibility of reviewing their own regulation with a view to making it more similar to the EU one should the latter be better. While preparing the book, analyses of the preparatory work of the legislation played a great role, as they are very useful for better understanding the legislative initiatives and the reasons for the choices made. Analysis of the doctrine and jurisprudence also played a great part. This allows the reader to have a thorough understanding of the subject from a scientific point of view and from the point of view of practical application.

Book Synopsis Regulating Mobility as a Service (MaaS) in European Union by : Erion Murati
Download or read book Regulating Mobility as a Service (MaaS) in European Union written by Erion Murati and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-12-08 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive analysis of the regulatory challenges and legal barriers surrounding the MaaS concept in the EU. By evaluating MaaS against existing EU legal frameworks on data sharing, competition, transport law and beyond, this research seeks to shed light on the regulatory implications of the MaaS concept. It employs a problem-based approach and qualitative doctrinal legal research methodology to assess the potential of MaaS in enhancing the efficiency, accessibility, sustainability, digitalization, multimodality, competitiveness, and convenience of the EU passenger transport sector, while identifying shortcomings in current EU regulatory frameworks that may impede its growth and analysing potential harms that rise of MaaS might cause to competition and users. The book concludes by providing recommendations aimed at enhancing the EU legal frameworks, with the goal of establishing a unified and harmonized framework that promotes an open, competitive, and multimodal MaaS market. In summary, producing a book on the regulatory challenges of MaaS in the EU now can contribute to the ongoing discourse, provide valuable insights, and offer guidance for policymakers, regulators, industry stakeholders, and researchers involved in shaping the future of mobility.

Book Synopsis Routledge Handbook of Public Aviation Law by : Paul Stephen Dempsey
Download or read book Routledge Handbook of Public Aviation Law written by Paul Stephen Dempsey and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-07-15 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Routledge Handbook of Public Aviation Law is the first book to incorporate a comprehensive analysis of Public Aviation Law – principally international, but also domestic law in a comparative context – in a single volume. International Law is pervasive in Aviation Law, and is incorporated into a number of major multilateral treaties (e.g., the Chicago Convention of 1944, for Public International Air Law). This is supplemented by various Annexes (promulgated by the International Civil Aviation Organization) and Conventions and Protocols (promulgated by States in diplomatic conferences). States then implement these international obligations in domestic laws that create aviation regulatory administrations that, in turn, promulgate regulations. Bringing together leading scholars in the field, this prestigious reference work provides a comprehensive and comparative overview of Public Aviation Law. It surveys the state of the discipline including contemporary and emerging areas of law, regulation, and public policy in air transportation. Each chapter begins with an overview of the international law applicable to the subject matter, followed, where appropriate, by a comparative examination of domestic statutes, regulations, and jurisprudence. The objective of the book is to identify and summarize existing areas within the context of international research, and to identify and highlight emerging areas. Both practical and theoretical in scope, the Routledge Handbook of Public Aviation Law will be of great relevance to scholars, researchers, lawyers, and policy makers with an interest in aviation law.
