Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Based on CLUE, Hasbro's popular and award-winning decoding detective board game, these puzzles have an enjoyably murderous twist that adds to the challenge and the fun. In keeping with the original game, the grid has six suspects listed at the side (like Colonel Mustard and Miss Scarlet); six possible weapons on the bottom; and boxes inside referring to the game's rooms. Solve the sudoku as usual, filling in the numbers from one to nine with no repeats. But when you're done, you'll also have the solution to the CLUE mystery too -- whodunit, with what, and where."--Publisher's description
Download or read book Color Sudoku written by Philip Riley and published by Sterling Publishing Company. This book was released on 2007-06 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sudoku fans will welcome this bright new twist to the popular puzzles! Every one of these ingenious creations--from "Bold X" to "Rainbow Up"--makes colors and patterns part of the solving fun. And although each puzzle maintains the normal 9x9 grid and follows the basic rules of the game, every style adds an additional restriction to intensify the challenge. In "Worms," for example, swirly, squirmy shapes fill the grids; the numbers increase as you work your way from head to tail. "Even/Odd" features squares in two colors, depending on whether the number to fill it is even or odd. And in "Positional Board," no two of the red squares can be the same number. They're all lots of fun!

Someone is littering the town with sudoku, crossword puzzles, and dead private eyes. It's up to Cora, with the help of her niece, Sherry, to solve the puzzle, the sudoku, and the murder, before the killer strikes again. Book Synopsis Taking Sudoku Seriously by : Jason Rosenhouse
Download or read book Taking Sudoku Seriously written by Jason Rosenhouse and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2012-01-19 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Packed with more than a hundred color illustrations and a wide variety of puzzles and brainteasers, Taking Sudoku Seriously uses this popular craze as the starting point for a fun-filled introduction to higher mathematics. How many Sudoku solution squares are there? What shapes other than three-by-three blocks can serve as acceptable Sudoku regions? What is the fewest number of starting clues a sound Sudoku puzzle can have? Does solving Sudoku require mathematics? Jason Rosenhouse and Laura Taalman show that answering these questions opens the door to a wealth of interesting mathematics. Indeed, they show that Sudoku puzzles and their variants are a gateway into mathematical thinking generally. Among many topics, the authors look at the notion of a Latin square--an object of long-standing interest to mathematicians--of which Sudoku squares are a special case; discuss how one finds interesting Sudoku puzzles; explore the connections between Sudoku, graph theory, and polynomials; and consider Sudoku extremes, including puzzles with the maximal number of vacant regions, with the minimal number of starting clues, and numerous others. The book concludes with a gallery of novel Sudoku variations--just pure solving fun! Most of the puzzles are original to this volume, and all solutions to the puzzles appear in the back of the book or in the text itself. A math book and a puzzle book, Taking Sudoku Seriously will change the way readers look at Sudoku and mathematics, serving both as an introduction to mathematics for puzzle fans and as an exploration of the intricacies of Sudoku for mathematics buffs.
Book Synopsis Killer Sudoku 1 by : Collins UK Staff
Download or read book Killer Sudoku 1 written by Collins UK Staff and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2006-01-24 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Just when you thought it was safe to pick up a pencil Killer Su Doku is based on the original Su Doku grid, with the same rules and numbers—1 to 9—but with an added deadly twist. This time there is an element of arithmetic involved and there are few, if any, clues. The aim is to not only complete every row, column, and cube so that it contains the digits 1 to 9, but to also fill in the outlined cubes so they add up to the same number. Hints to solve the puzzle are hidden in the joined squares where only one combination of numbers applies. In the case of joined squares, if the printed number is 3, it should be 1 and 2 that go into the squares. Likewise, in the case of three joined squares, if the printed number is 6, the only combination possible is 1, 2, and 3. To add one final fiendish level, each puzzle also has a time worked out by its Japanese creators so you can try to beat the clock.

Book Synopsis Letters and Words Sudoku by : Brian Tordoff
Download or read book Letters and Words Sudoku written by Brian Tordoff and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-08-21 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new puzzle is like Sudoku that is used in many new books. But this one is different. It uses letters instead of numbers. It uses nine letters instead of nine numbers and the letters are not always the same. Each puzzle has a list of the nine letters that are being used in each puzzle. Just like the Sudoku puzzles there are nine groups of nine letters. There will be 2 parts for these puzzles. The first part is like the Sudoku puzzles. There will be a 9X9 table with some of the letters missing. This is just like the Sudoku puzzles, only it uses letters. This puzzle is still the same but it may use f t h b m g o e a, or, s m l g b y i o u. Generally, 6 consonants and 3 vowels are used, but there may be times when 7 consonants and 2 vowels, or 5 and 4 are being used. There is also a blank table which is 4 columns by 9 rows. That is the area in which you will record the second part. You have already figured out what all the letters are; now you get to see how many words you can find. This is Part 2. Part 2 is completely different from the Sudoku. This is where you go through your answers to part one and see how many words you can find. Some of the puzzles have as many at 15 words and some as many as 25 words. It is all dependent on the letters that are used. This is the part than can really be difficult. You will be going through the puzzle, after you have done the hard work of finding all the letters, and trying to find words. All words in the answers are at least 3 letters long.

Book Synopsis Sudoku Programming with C by : Giulio Zambon
Download or read book Sudoku Programming with C written by Giulio Zambon and published by Apress. This book was released on 2015-03-25 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sudoku Programming with C teaches you how to write computer programs to solve and generate Sudoku puzzles. This is a practical book that will provide you with everything you need to write your own books of Sudoku Classic and Samurai puzzles. But be warned: after reading it, you'll discover that the puzzles in your local paper are not so challenging after all! We like Sudokus because they test our capacity to recognize and interpret patterns. But how are the clues generated? Where do those quasi-symmetrical configurations come from? When the author explored the Web to find out, he discovered that there were many sites that explained how to solve Sudokus, but none that told him how create them. He also saw many sites and apps to play Sudoku, but, perhaps not surprising, no indication of how they worked. So, he had to develop his own applications in order to find out. And, from the very start, he decided that he would publish the code for anyone else to use and perhaps tinker with, but the author wrote it in such a way that also lets readers with limited knowledge of programming techniques understand it. In fact, you could decide to start generating thousands of puzzles almost immediately, and go through the explanations of algorithms and techniques later, a bit at a time. The author chose to write the application in ‘plain old C’ because he wanted to make the code accessible to as many people as possible. In this book, you will find an explanation of all solving strategies, and the code to implement them. Writing the Solver application was more difficult than writing the Generator, because it required designing and implementing each strategy separately. However, the author wanted to include a solving program capable of listing the strategies necessary to solve any particular puzzle. He also wanted to check whether a puzzle was solvable analytically, without any guessing. This book includes the full listings of both the Generator and the Solver, and explanations of all C modules, with walk-throughs and examples.
