This book was released on 2024-07-26 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication in three volumes originated in papers delivered at two conferences held in May 1988 at the University of California, Berkeley, and the Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies in Washington, DC. Like many other conferences organized that year in the United States, Europe, and the Soviet Union, they were convened to commemorate the millennium of the acceptance of Christianity in Rus'. This collection of essays throws light on the enormous, truly unique role that the Christian tradition has played throughout the centuries in shaping the nations that spring from Kievan Rus'—the Russians, Ukrainians, and Belorussians. Although these volumes devote greater attention to Russian culture, the investigation of the issue in the history of Christianity in Ukrainian and Belorussian cultures occupies an important and integral part of the project. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The final novel in H. Rider Haggard’s much-anticipated trilogy, ‘Allan and the Ice Gods’, sees the return of Allan Quatermain and features Lady Luna Ragnall and the taduki drug yet again. This time, however, Allan is refusing to see Lady Luna Ragnall. The awkwardness of the last three drug-induced visions, revealing their marriage, left him squirming. But she is about to let spill that their ancient counterparts were right. And they were indeed married. As Allan is yet again transported to the barbaric Ice Age, can he restore order in the tribe? And more importantly, can he weave in new technology and intelligence without unbalancing history? ‘Allan and the Ice Gods’ is the ideal rip-roaring tale, perfect for adventure-fantasy fans of Jack Black’s ‘Gulliver’s Travels’. H. Rider Haggard KBE (1856-1925) was an English writer of adventure fiction romances and a pioneer of the lost world genre. His rip-roaring tales include ‘King Solomon’s Mines’, ‘Allan Quatermain’, ‘Nada the Lilly’ and the epic Viking romance ‘Eric Brighteyes’. Portraying the stereotypes of colonialism, his work also focused on agricultural and social reform. It’s no surprise that Haggard is remembered today as an influential figure in land reform throughout the British Empire.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible is like a jewelry box holding treasures of immeasurable value. For instance, John 3:16 can be compared to the hope diamond. It surpasses all others. Genealogy listings of who begat whom could be compared to mere gravel. Though maybe not life-changing, it serves its purpose. We cannot improve on GodaEUR(tm)s Word (it is what it is), but God has called us to be laborers together with Him (1 Corinthians 3:9). Just like a priceless diamond simply looks like a rock until it is shaped and put in the proper light, His Word is almost always hidden until the Holy Spirit reveals its worth, and sometimes another person can share its impact on their lives or even a looked over by most observation that puts it in a different light. Example, the shortest verse is John 11:35: aEURoeJesus wept.aEUR My take is that He had to bring Lazarus back. IaEUR(tm)ve seen many people surprised by this. A sermon is for the purpose of putting a shine on scripture, bringing out the beauty, revealing the intent of the message, making it understandable. This collection of poetry is basically quick-read minisermons given to the author by the Holy Spirit. Tertius was a scribe who wrote the Book of Romans while Paul dictated. The authoraEUR(tm)s education in poetry has only come from bathroom walls and Dr. Seuss. He credits God with its entire content. The style is down-to-earth, but its message is out of this world. It is his hope that believers will gain a closer relationship with God and unbelievers will begin a journey that leaves behind all the hopelessness, misery, darkness, and suffering of the soul that accompanies life apart from God (that he has experienced firsthand) and begin a joyous walk with Jesus toward the Promised Land. He hopes it entertains you and prays that it changes you for the better.

Book Synopsis Stumbling Toward Eternity by : Josh White
Download or read book Stumbling Toward Eternity written by Josh White and published by Multnomah. This book was released on 2023-02-28 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Live with freedom and abundance as you freshly discover the cross of Jesus through the powerful stories and biblical insights of influential preacher and musician Josh White. “[A] vision of gospel hope.”—John Mark Comer Desperation reverberates at the very center of our anxious age. Despite our fiercest efforts, we never seem to find the meaning, depth, and beauty we long for. Where do we turn? There are so many voices promising happiness and endless ladders for us to climb toward a wholeness we can’t seem to reach. Yet what if what we are looking for has already come down to us? In Stumbling Toward Eternity, writer, pastor, and recording artist Josh White offers confessional stories and theological insights as he interprets the pain of his own past, the complicated “mixture” of the present, and the beautiful uncertainty of the future through the lens of grace. Using crisp and honest prose, he reveals why the most familiar symbol of Christianity—the cross of Jesus—is also the most misunderstood. He shows us why the goal of our desperate existence is not arriving at perfection or success but knowing the crucified Christ. The cross is not something to climb toward status. It is something to die on. It is where illusions die and wounds are healed. The cross is where the crucified God speaks over us words that bring freedom. Freedom from futility. Freedom to live with hope. Freedom to truly love. When we lose and find ourselves in the cross of Jesus, we discover that even the most dissonant notes of life can be redeemed in His song, even as we stumble toward eternity.

Footsteps is the non-linear documentation of a brotha's examination of his past by reviewing the writings of his past as he sought to maintain his identity. African-Americans of all ages, any station and both genders will see themselves in two or more of (simply)G's writings. Honest to a fault, problems inescapable to many Blacks are explored in a language fluent in sincere anger and fluid in its exploration for universal truths along life's emotion continuum.
