Además, esta propuesta también promueve el uso de medios de transporte sostenibles como la bicicleta y el transporte público, lo que puede ayudar a reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero y mejorar la calidad del aire. La pandemia del COVID-19 ha acelerado el interés en este concepto de ciudades de 15 minutos, ya que muchas personas han optado por caminar o andar en bicicleta en lugar de usar el transporte público para evitar posibles contagios. Al reducir la necesidad de desplazarse largas distancias para realizar actividades diarias, las ciudades de 15 minutos pueden ser también una forma de fomentar la actividad física y mejorar la salud de los residentes.
