They have thrown away those Old individualistic clothes, which they had worn since the Reformation, and have accepted the corporate collective principle. But, while they are a Party with principles, they are a Party without clothes. And, until they have thrown over-board (from the point of view of Social Reform) that Individualistic Institution, the House Of Com mons, and that fantastic chimera, a non-disciplinary mandate-controlled, socialistic State, and put upon themselves the armour of light, by embodying their collective principles in a corporate disciplinary N eo-catholic Church, the less they appear on public platforms, the better for public decency, and social peace. These are hard sayings, but until it is understood, from Land's End to John of Groat's, that both parties have run off the rails and become, at the end of an Epoch, commercial cliques, there is no chance Of our being able to establish a statesmanlike N eo-catholic Institution for social service, which will rely for its driving-force on Love, and for its funds on generosity, honour, chivalry, and on a bold attempt to create a new environment for Mother and Child. And that it is a truth which will, the writer is confident, be recognised by none more gladly than by existing Politicians themselves.
