Tout au long de sa longue histoire, l'Église a été une source importante de services communautaires tels que l'école et les soins de santé; inspiration dans les arts, la culture et la philosophie; et un acteur d'influence politique et religieuse. Le christianisme primitif est issu d'une petite communauté juive au premier siècle de notre ère et a adopté plusieurs croyances, coutumes et philosophies de langue grecque. Dans l'histoire de la culture occidentale, l'émergence du christianisme dans l'Empire romain est connue comme "le triomphe du christianisme". Cela fait référence au triomphe des croyances chrétiennes sur les croyances et pratiques païennes. Cependant, il est essentiel de noter que le christianisme n'est pas devenu une religion silencieuse. L'histoire chrétienne est un entrepôt de l'œuvre de Dieu sur la terre ; nous devrions l'apprendre et l'embrasser. Une grande partie de la Bible est historique. L'histoire décrit et affecte nos vies même en ces temps modernes. L'histoire nous permet de nous écarter temporairement de nos vies et de notre culture pour l'explorer en tenant compte d'une autre façon de vivre.

But Origen and Eusebius, two scholars of late Roman Caesarea, did far more. Both produced new kinds of books, in which parallel columns made possible critical comparisons previously unenvisioned, whether between biblical texts or between national histories.
