Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A murderous creature with the face of an angel. Sarah Leonard is supervising the construction of an international hotel in post-Cold War Warsaw. If the job doesn't come in on time and under budget, Sarah will be out of a job. Shockingly, a headless body is discovered in a sewer tunnel at the construction site. Polish authorities pressure the Warsaw police to solve the case quickly, even if they have to invent a murderer. Unluckily for the authorities, the case is assigned to Komisarz Stefan Rej. Rej wants a real investigation and real justice, particularly once his investigation turns up evidence that more than one person has disappeared or been slaughtered near the hotel site. The location is linked to the ancient legend of the Tunnel Child, a murderous creature with the face of an angel, apparently created by mad Nazi scientists. Who, or what, are Sarah and Rej chasing? 'One of the most original and frightening storytellers of our time' PETER JAMES. 'A true master of horror' JAMES HERBERT.

Book excerpt: Jamie was a teenage bedwetter and when you lived in an orphanage, prospective parents didn't choose bedwetters - at least not for long. Sick of wet sheets and nappies, Jamie was often returned back in disgrace and 'traded in' for a younger, dryer child. He was the only older teenager allowed to remain in the orphanage, a product of his very short stature and obvious immaturity - and occasional wet pants. But at the age of eighteen, Jamie had finally been told he was leaving. He had been.... CHOSEN. But by whom... and why? A story of being happily regressed back to infancy, with diapers, plastic pants, pacifiers and sleeping in a crib. A wonderful narrative of a terrible childhood being not just overcome, but replaced with a new one.

Book excerpt: My old English teacher told me to never start your story at "the now. Always give a little background or people can't keep up. It makes it so the person who is listening to your Story can form a picture in their mind of what it is youre trying to tell. I always thought that was pretty smart. But what if there is no story that can form a background? What if my story started in "the now"? My story starts the moment I answer that door. Or at least that's how I thought it started...... When Princess Simetra discovers her true identity her life changes. She is thrown into a world of magic and war. A war she wants no part of but has no choice. She started with no family, no friends. Her world grew around her as the chance of it crumbling became a reality.

Book excerpt: In Chosen, a young caseworker becomes increasingly entangled in the lives of adoptive and birth parents, with devastating results. It all begins with a fantasy: the caseworker in her "signing paperwork" charcoal suit standing alongside beaming parents cradling their adopted newborn, set against a fluorescent-lit delivery-room backdrop. It's this blissful picture that keeps Chloe Pinter, director of the Chosen Child's domestic-adoption program, happy while juggling the high demands of her boss and the incessant needs of both adoptive and biological parents. But the very job that offers her refuge from her turbulent personal life and Portland's winter rains soon becomes a battleground involving three very different couples: the Novas, well-off college sweethearts who suffered fertility problems but are now expecting their own baby; the McAdoos, a wealthy husband and desperate wife for whom adoption is a last chance; and Jason and Penny, an impoverished couple who have nothing—except the baby everyone wants. When a child goes missing, dreams dissolve into nightmares, and everyone is forced to examine what he or she really wants and where it all went wrong. Told from alternating points of view, Chosen reveals the desperate nature of desire across social backgrounds and how far people will go to get the one thing they think will be the answer.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three children find a treasure map in their Grandpas shed and he tells them the story of how he came by it. It was from a time when he was a boy in the early 1960s. The story follows the adventures of seven children who are together over the summer holidays on a farm. While out fishing their boat is blown ashore onto a forbidden island. They meet a fascinating old man on the island who claims to be a survivor from an ancient civilisation that had discovered a youth potion that enabled him to live for thousands of years. He tells the children that they were all once citizens of this ancient land in previous lives and that they had been chosen to seek for certain moral truths about themselves. Once each child has discovered their own truth they would be able to find the treasure that existed on the island. The old man warns them that there is another survivor living on the island who is an evil wizard and strongly advises the children to avoid him. The story then follows the childrens quests for their moral truths which are encountered during the various adventures they have on the farm and in subsequent visits to the island. The adventures include horse riding, shooting, swimming, playing in an old haunted house and many other activities that country children engaged in before the age of television, computer games and smart phones. They encounter the evil wizard on a later visit to the island and become embroiled in a struggle of good versus evil.
