Book excerpt: The purpose of the book is to provide a coherent framework of the data on structure, ultrastructure and reproduction of selected taxa in the Chlorophyta. The book is noted for its brecvity ,ideas as well as facts, and provides material for conceptual basic and original thinking about algae. The rapidly increasing interest in this group of plants and enormous literature that accures makes this compendium timely and necessary. This book is designed to both undergraduate and postgraduate students and also can profitably be used by teachers specializing in Phycology. Aquatic Biology Cell Biology and Plant Evolution.

Download or read book Freshwater Flora of Central Europe, Vol 13: Chlorophyta: Ulvophyceae (Süßwasserflora von Mitteleuropa, Bd. 13: Chlorophyta: Ulvophyceae) written by Pavel Škaloud and published by Springer-Verlag. This book was released on 2018-02-15 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume covers the freshwater, aerophytic, and terrestrial green algae of the Ulvophyceae, one of the main classes of green algae. Although most of this diversity is found in the marine environment, a substantial number of species also occurs in brackish, freshwater, and aero-terrestrial habitats. This volume serves as a reference work for identifying these green algae by providing keys, detailed descriptions, and illustrations of the more than 100 European species, along with descriptions of more than 100 non-European taxa. The present study incorporates the latest findings in phylogeny, ultrastructure and morphology for the classification, and delimitation of species. In addition, it significantly revises the taxonomy of ulvophytes, based on new molecular phylogenetic data. One order and one family are resurrected (Chlorocystidales, Chlorocystidaceae), and one order and five families are newly described (Ignatiales, Ignatiaceae, Binucleariaceae, Planophilaceae, Hazeniaceae, Sarcinofilaceae, and Tupiellaceae).

Book Synopsis Algae Abstracts by : Office of Water Resources Research Staff
Download or read book Algae Abstracts written by Office of Water Resources Research Staff and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 698 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aigae Abstracts is the first in aseries of bibliographies on water re sources and pollution published by IFI/Plenum Data Corporation in cooperation with the Water Resources Scientific Information Center (WRSIC). It is produced wholly from the information base compris ing material abstracted and indexed for Selected Water Resources Abstracts. The bibliography is divided into volumes according to the publication dates of the source documents. Volume 1 contains 569 abstracts cov ering publication dates up to and including 1969; Volume 2 contains 730 abstracts covering the years 1970 to 1972. The material included in this bibliography represents computer selections based on the presence of a form of the word "alga" somewhere in the referenced citation. Substantively, the material typifies WRSIC's "centers of com petence" approach to information support of the Office of Water Re sources Research (OWRR) of the Department of the Interior. Most of the references in this bibliography are the work of the center of competence on eutrophication at the University of Wisconsin. The indexes refer to the WRSIC accession number, which follows each abstract. The Significant Descriptor Index is made up of a fraction of the total descriptors and identifiers by which each paper has been indexed. It represents weighted terms that best describe the informa tion content; this status is indicated by the asterisks which precede them. The General Index includes all the remaining descriptors and identifiers by which each paper in this bibliography has been indexed.
