Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the research actIvItIes of dyestuff chemists worldwide have been influenced to a great extent, in recent years, by the need to respond to a variety of environmental issues associated with the manufacture and application of synthetic dyes and pigments, a significant level of targeted research continues to be devoted to new chemistry aimed at enhancing the technical properties of dyes in commerce. This book is a presentation of various aspects of basic research conducted during the past decade but not reported in the recent review literature. The coverage herein is unique in that it emphasizes systematic approaches commonly utilized in the design and synthesis of dyes and pigments and the required intermediates. While it is well known that certain transition metals are important in the synthesis of technically viable metallized dyes for polyamide and protein fibers, these metals are demonstrated in Chapter 1 also to be effective agents in the regiospecific placement of substituents into azo compounds. The scope and limitations of this chemistry are presented. In other synthetic work, a description of the different processes employed to produce the major families of reactive dyes is presented. In Chapter 4, special attention is given to reactive dyes containing more than one reactive group, and to the more recent developments in the field. The two chapters which follow provide a review of the recent literature pertaining to novel chromophores and dyes for the D2T2 process, respectively.

Download or read book Phosphazenes written by Mario Gleria and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2004 with total page 1066 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main aim of this book is to provide a complete picture of current research on phosphazene compounds carried out around the world. The book opens with a general introduction, then moves on to cover synthetic aspects of phosphazene polymers, their characterization in solution and from the theoretical, thermal, and mechanical points of view; application aspects of poly(organophosphazenes); and the synthesis, characterization, and practical utilization of cyclophosphazenes. There is particular focus on the use of cyclophosphazenes as hydraulic fluids and additives, as cores for star polymers or dendrimers, and as starting substrates for supramolecular chemistry and nanostructured materials. The spectroscopic characterization of these compounds by NMR and Raman techniques is also discussed. Annotation : 2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com).
Book Synopsis Synthesis and Characterizations of Poly(organophosphazenes) by : Roger De Jaeger
Download or read book Synthesis and Characterizations of Poly(organophosphazenes) written by Roger De Jaeger and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2004 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gleria (materials science, Padova University, Italy) and De Jaeger (chemistry, University of Sciences and Technologies, France) present the latest work in the synthesis and characterization of poly(organophosphazenes). The book opens with a general introduction on background, developments, and future perspectives, then covers the synthetic aspects of phosphazene polymers, with chapters on areas such as ambient temperature cationic condensation synthesis of polyphosphazenes and high molecular weight polyspirophosphazenes. Chapters on the characterization of phosphazene polymers in solution explore topics including thermal and mechanical properties of polyphosphazenes and electrochemical behavior of phosphazenes. Book Synopsis From Classical to Modern Chemistry by : Peter J. T. Morris
Download or read book From Classical to Modern Chemistry written by Peter J. T. Morris and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2002 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most chemists today have either taken part in, or been affected by, the chemical revolution that has taken place over the course of the last century. Developments in instrumentation have changed not just what chemists do, but also how they think about chemistry. New and exciting areas of previously inaccessible research have been opened up as a direct result of this revolution. This is the first book to examine this instrumental revolution and goes on to assess the impact on chemical practice in areas ranging from organic chemistry and biochemistry to environmental analysis and process control, thus demonstrating how fundamental and extensive are the changes that have occurred. With contributions from internationally recognised specialists, this lavishly illustrated book provides a focal point for any historian of chemistry or chemist with an interest in this fascinating topic. This book is published in association with the Science Museum, London, UK and the Chemical Heritage Foundation, Philadelphia.

A comprehensive treatment of modern instrumentation for mass analysis and detection is also included. The major part of the book deals with bioanalytical applications to peptides, proteins, oligonucleotides, polysaccharides, lipids and plant metabolites. Several papers are devoted to the evaluation of adduct formation between DNA and carcinogens. Environmental applications are also included, with examples of some specific cases. Fundamentals and applications are treated with the same degree of depth: the first two parts of the book therefore provide a basis for the understanding of the biomolecular applications section. Audience: Ideal for advanced graduate students of chemistry who have learned some basic mass spectrometry. Also useful for Ph.D. students in chemistry, biology and medicine. Of value to researchers in academic and industrial laboratories.
