This supply, it is presumed, would be adequate to the demand of the summit, if it could be relied on as constant; but it is known that a calculation of this kind would be greatly erroneous. These streams were represented by some per sons (who, residing in their vicinity, must necessarily have noticed their changes, ) as discharging, at the period of the examination, about double the quantity they give in the dryest season this would give, supposing their estimate correct, but 7% cubic feet as their collective minimum expense, and even this, it is believed, would, after a fair in vestigation, be found to exceed the truth.
