This book was released on 2019-06 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication, Field Manual FM 3-11 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Operations May 2019, provides commanders and staffs with overarching chemical doctrine for operations to assess, protect, and mitigate the entire range of CBRN threats and hazards-including support to countering weapons of mass destruction (CWMD) activities in all operational environments. It addresses principles, fundamentals, planning, operational considerations, and training and support functions. It provides a common framework and language for CBRN operations and constitutes the doctrinal foundation for developing other fundamentals and tactics, techniques, and procedures detailed in subordinate doctrine manuals. This manual is a key integrating publication that links the doctrine for the CBRN units and staffs with Army operational doctrine and joint doctrine. The principal audience for FM 3-11 is commanders, staffs, and leaders of theater armies, corps, divisions, and brigades as well as CBRN units that integrate capability into those formations. However, FM 3-11 is applicable to all members of the profession of arms. To comprehend the doctrine in FM 3-11 readers must first understand the fundamentals of unified land operations described in ADP 3-0 and in FM 3-0. The reader must also understand the language of tactics and the fundamentals of the offense and defense described in ADP 3-90, and be familiar with operational terms and graphics described in ADP 1-02. Commanders and staffs of Army headquarters should also refer to applicable joint or multinational doctrine concerning the range of military operations (ROMO) and joint or multinational forces.FM 3-11 uses joint terms where applicable. Selected joint and Army terms and definitions appear in both the glossary and the text. Terms for which FM 3-11 is the proponent publication (the authority) are italicized in the text and are marked with an asterisk (*) in the glossary. Terms and definitions for which FM 3-11 is the proponent publication are boldfaced in the text. For other definitions shown in the text, the term is italicized and the number of the proponent publication follows the definition.FM 3-11 applies to the Active Army, Army National Guard/Army National Guard of the United States and United States Army Reserve unless otherwise stated.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The doctrine discussed in this manual is nested with ADP 3-0, Operations, and describes the sustainment warfighting function. The endurance of Army forces is primarily a function of their sustainment and is essential to retaining and exploiting the initiative. Sustainment provides the support necessary to maintain operations until mission accomplishment. The relationship between sustainment and operation is depicted in introductory figure-1 on page vi.Sustainment must be integrated and synchronized with operations at every level to include those of our joint and multinational partners. Sustainment depends on joint and strategic links for strategic airlift, sealift, intratheater airlift, and strategic and theater-level supply support. Sustainment depends on our host nation (HN) partners to provide infrastructure and logistics support necessary to ensure both maneuver forces and followon sustainment are delivered to right place, at the right time, and in an operable condition.
Book Synopsis Chemical-Biological Defense by : Albert J. Mauroni
Download or read book Chemical-Biological Defense written by Albert J. Mauroni and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 1998-06-30 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Gulf War has been the only conflict in the last half-century that featured the possible use of chemical-biological weapons against U.S. forces. Vulnerability to such an attack spurred the Department of Defense to action from the first hint of trouble in August 1990 through the end of hostilities in March 1991. Nearly disbanded in 1972, the U.S. Army Chemical Corps would be the prime force in ensuring that U.S. forces could both survive and sustain combat operations under chemical-biological warfare conditions. Focussing on the work of senior Army officials, this account assesses the degree of readiness achieved by the ground war's initiation and the lessons learned since the conflict. For an appropriately trained and equipped military force, chemical weapons pose not the danger of mass destruction but the threat of mass disruption, no more deadly than smart munitions or B-52 air strikes. This book will reveal a coordinated response to train and equip U.S. forces did take place prior to the feared Iraqi chemical and biological attacks. Undocumented in any other book, it details the plans that rushed sixty Fox reconnaissance vehicles to the Gulf, the worldwide call for protective suits and masks, and the successful placement of biological agent detectors prior to the air offensive. In addition, the work addresses what really happened at Khamisiyah. Were troops exposed to chemical weapons and what is behind the mysterious Gulf War Syndrome?

Download or read book Army Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures ATTP 3-11. 36 MULTI-SERVICE TACTICS, TECHNIQUES, and PROCEDURES for CHEMICAL, BIOLOGICAL, RADIOLOGICAL, and NUCLEAR ASPECTS of COMMAND and CONTROL written by United States Government Army and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This multi-Service publication represents a significant revision of the November 1986 publication. The scope of the previous publication was limited to the effect that weather and terrain have on nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) operations and obscuration operations. This publication expands that scope to include the doctrinal employment of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) capabilities (organizations, personnel, technology, and information) to characterize CBRN threats and hazards, including toxic industrial material (TIM), to the commander and the force. It is designed to provide commanders and staffs at the operational and tactical levels with capability employment planning data and considerations to shape military operations involving CBRN threats and hazards (CBRN shape) and a better understanding of where and when to expect CBRN hazards by applying information management (IM) to the military decisionmaking process (MDMP)/Marine Corps planning process (MCPP). This publication incorporates the characteristics of CBRN shape as addressed in joint concepts and in doctrine; and it provides doctrine and tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) for managing CBRN threats and hazards in the larger context of multi-Service military operations. The chapters present a doctrinal foundation, and specific TTP are included in appendixes. This manual also incorporates the joint doctrine elements for combating weapons of mass destruction (WMD), to include the passive defense capabilities of CBRN shape, CBRN sense, CBRN shield, and CBRN sustain. During military operations, this publication is subordinate to current joint publications (JPs) addressing this topic. This document incorporates the following key guidance—• National strategy to combat WMD.• National military strategy to combat WMD.• Department of Defense (DOD) protection joint functional concept.• Joint enabling concept for CBRN defense.• JP 3-40.The purpose of this publication is to provide commanders, staffs, key agencies, and Service members with a key reference for understanding, characterizing, and managing CBRN threats and hazards in a particular operational environment (OE). This manual bridges the gap between Service and joint doctrine. It contains TTP for commanders and staff to use for characterizing and managing CBRN threats and hazards while conducting multi-Service military operations. This manual addresses concepts, principles, fundamentals, planning, operational considerations, and training and support functions. It serves as the foundation for developing Service manuals and refining existing training support packages, mission training plans, training center and unit exercises, and Service school curricula. It drives the examination of organizations and materiel developments applicable to military support of CBRN aspects of command and control (C2).This publication is designed for use at the operational and tactical levels but has implications at the strategic level in the implementation of CBRN supporting strategic objectives. The manual will support command staffs, CBRN staff officers, CBRN noncommissioned officers (NCOs), non-CBRN personnel performing collateral duties as additional-duty CBRN officers or NCOs, and employees of civilian agencies in the assessment, planning, preparation, and execution of CBRN C2 functions. This publication is intended to provide multi- Service C2 concepts and considerations for planning for, responding to, and recovering from CBRN events. It is not stand-alone guidance for United States (U.S.) Air Force (USAF) CBRN actions and activities. It is applicable to USAF units and USAF teams only in conjunction with appropriate USAF-specific publications, installation plans, supporting checklists, and other appropriate guidance.
