When cheer captain Leah steps down months before graduation, the team is shocked. Waitlisted by her dream college, questioning her identity, and suffering from senioritis, Leah needs to hand the captain’s poms off and focus on her future. But when the competition for captaincy goes awry, power-hungry twins take command of the squad and immediately pit the cheerleaders against the basketball team in a fight for glory. Balls fly, pom-poms shake, hearts are broken—and only one person can heal the rift between the teams. But first she’ll have to heal herself. As full of heart as it is backflips and three-pointers, King Cheer is a warm and witty story of self-discovery, friendship, and finding the courage to face your future.

Book Synopsis It's Like Heaven by : Dorothy H. Jordan
Download or read book It's Like Heaven written by Dorothy H. Jordan and published by University of Georgia Press. This book was released on 2020 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1982 Dorothy H. Jordan founded Camp Sunshine to provide children with cancer a safe, normal childhood experience, to show them that others share their challenges, and to help them find community and support. In 1983 approximately forty campers between the ages of seven and eighteen attended the first summer camp, held in the north Georgia mountains. Thirty-five years later, more than four hundred campers attended the 2018 summer camp, and several hundred more children and family members participated in more than 150 additional recreational, educational, and supportive Camp Sunshine programs held throughout the year in metro Atlanta, Savannah, and other areas of Georgia. Today Camp Sunshine, a nonprofit organization, has hundreds of dedicated volunteers who help the leadership staff of the camp with its multiple year-round programs, as well as pediatric oncology nurses and other medical professionals who take care of the campers' medical needs while they attend those programs. It's Like Heaven documents the story of the first thirty-five years of Camp Sunshine through the voices of campers, their nurses, counselors, and other volunteers. Each chapter is a former camper's first-person story about childhood cancer and the Camp Sunshine journey, followed by reflections on the camper's experience by the camper's nurse or another member of the camp community, creating a unique narrative of each camper's struggle and path toward healing. Every story includes photos of both the camper and the camper's mentor as well as several photos that illustrate the connections, bonds, and strength of community created through Camp Sunshine.

It was, he explained, a story of sailors, storms and adventures, heat and cold, sailing-ships, islands, pirates and buried gold - all told in the old way. It is the story of the bloodthirsty and hard-hearted Captain Flint who, on his deathbed in 1754, drew the map of an island where he had buried his treasure - seven hundred thousand pounds in silver and gold. Young Jim Hawkins is living with his father and mother when he meets the mysterious old seaman Billy Bones - the man who holds Flints map of Treasure Island. Jim is drawn into a series of bloody adventures, which cost the lives of seventeen men and more and involve the evil old seaman Pew, Squire Trelawney, Dr Livesey, poor Ben Gunn, and the one-legged, two-faced Long John Silver, whose green talking parrot knows more than it should when it echoes the treasure-cry of Captain Flint: Pieces of eight! Pieces of eight! Easy Readers are adapted and abridged versions of novels and short stories. They are divided into level A, B, C, and D, A being the easiest. The levels match the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (level A2 to B2).
