Book Synopsis Taxonomy of the birds of the world by : fotolulu
Download or read book Taxonomy of the birds of the world written by fotolulu and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2018-10-30 with total page 701 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do you come up with the idea to list all the birds in the world including the subspecies and to give all birds English names? There is a reason for it - my favorite saying, whose author is unknown: "Everyone said that ́s not possible - then there was one who did not know that and just did it!" I am an animal photographer and probably a little bit crazy. Ive built a complete animal database for mammals and birds over the last decade. This facilitates my work in determining and archiving images and assigning keywords, especially among the many subspecies. With this book, I would like to give all birding friends and ornithologists a complete overview in English. For this I have given unique English names to all subspecies. The naming should not meet any scientific requirements. The names are based on translations from the Latin name, geographical distribution areas and the names of the discoverers. The entries consist of the scientific name, the English name, the distribution areas and the author. I wish you a lot of fun with this book, but especially while watching the fascinating birdlife. fotolulu
Download or read book Chat Republic written by Angelo Fernando and published by . This book was released on 2013-04-18 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Conversations, and the need for exchanging ideas is integral to a vibrant society. Social media, a great enabler of rich conversations, continues to touch and infect organizations, even those that have remained on the sidelines. What appears to be chatter -rants, 'Likes, ' re-tweets, video responses, 'check-ins' - contain clues to how communities are socially adjusting to being both talkers and listeners, producers and consumers of media. Angelo Fernando shows us why re-instating our authentic voice through social media sends ripples through PR and politics, media and marketing. You will learn how to plan for a time when socially enhanced conversations will become inseparable from everything your organization undertakes. Social media often sounds more complicated than it is. This book will give you the confidence to dive in. "An accessible and engaging text to help more people participate in social media and have their voice heard." "Emanuel Rosen, Author, The Anatomy of Buzz Revisited, a national bestseller" "Angelo does a brilliant job of making sense of how advancements in technologies are so intertwined with our daily lives in language that will catch you up to speed quickly." "Dr. Cyndi Laurin, author of bestselling "The Rudolph Factor""

Download or read book Robins and Chats written by Peter Clement and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2016-01-28 with total page 641 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This authoritative handbook, part of the Helm Identification Guides series, looks in detail at the world's 170 species of robins and chats. This large family of small passerines was formerly considered to be part of the thrush family (Turdidae), but is now usually treated as a separate family, Muscicapidae, together with the Old World flycatchers. The vast majority of species are Eurasian or African, with only a handful of species straying into the New World or Australasia. The Australian Robins, although superficially similar, have long been regarded as a separate family. Robins and chats are a diverse family comprising both highly colourful and visible species, such as the robin-chats of Africa, as well as some of the most skulking and elusive birds, such as the shortwings of Asia. Many chats, such as the well-known Nightingale, are renowned songsters, and a good number are highly sought-after by world listers for their extreme rarity or simply because they are hard to see. This book discusses the identification and habits of these birds on a species-by-species basis, bringing together the very latest research with accurate range maps, more than 600 stunning colour photographs that illustrate age and racial plumage differences, and 64 superb colour plates by the internationally renowned artist, Chris Rose. This authoritative and sumptuous book will be an essential purchase for all chat enthusiasts, and will become the standard reference on the subject for many years to come.
Book Synopsis The Life of the City by : Julian Brigstocke
Download or read book The Life of the City written by Julian Brigstocke and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-03 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Could the vitality of embodied experience create a foundation for a new form of revolutionary authority? The Life of the City is a bold and innovative reassessment of the early urban avant-garde movements that sought to re-imagine and reinvent the experiential life of the city. Constructing a ground-breaking theoretical analysis of the relationships between biological life, urban culture, and modern forms of biopolitical ’experiential authority’, Julian Brigstocke traces the failed attempts of Parisian radicals to turn the ’crisis of authority’ in late nineteenth-century Paris into an opportunity to invent new forms of urban commons. The most comprehensive account to date of the spatial politics of the literary, artistic and anarchist groups that settled in the Montmartre area of Paris after the suppression of the 1871 Paris Commune, The Life of the City analyses the reasons why laughter emerged as the unlikely tool through which Parisian bohemians attempted to forge a new, non-representational biopolitics of sensation. Ranging from the carnivalesque performances of artistic cabarets such as the Chat Noir to the laughing violence of anarchist terrorism, The Life of the City is a timely analysis of the birth of a carnivalesque politics that remains highly influential in contemporary urban movements.
Book Synopsis Montmartre and the Making of Mass Culture by : Gabriel P. Weisberg
Download or read book Montmartre and the Making of Mass Culture written by Gabriel P. Weisberg and published by Rutgers University Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Located on the fringes of Paris, Montmartre attracted artists such as Toulouse-Lautrec, Picasso, Steinlen, and Jules Chéret. By the beginning of the twentieth century, the artists in the quarter began to create works blurring the boundaries between fine art and popular illustration, the artist and the audience, as well as class and gender distinctions. The creative expression that ensued was an exuberant mix of high and low-a breeding ground for what is today termed popular culture. The carefully interlocked essays in Montmartre and the Making of Mass Culture demonstrate how and why this quarter was at the forefront of such innovation. The contributors bring an unprecedented range of approaches to the topic, from political and religious history to art historical investigations and literary analysis of texts. This project is the first of its kind to examine fully Montmartre's many contributions to the creation of a mass culture that reigned supreme in the twentieth century.

Book Synopsis Culture Wars and Literature in the French Third Republic by : Gilbert D. Chaitin
Download or read book Culture Wars and Literature in the French Third Republic written by Gilbert D. Chaitin and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2009-03-26 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The articles assembled in Culture Wars and Literature in the French Third Republic describe and analyze the ever-widening attempts in the early years of the Third Republic (1870-1914) to mobilize literary phenomena for the purposes of political and social warfare. Literature became the preferred site in which the human implications of the fiercest and most widespread of these culture wars, the battles over national identity waged between proponents of secular and religious education, were articulated, dramatized and appraised. In studies of Erckmann-Chatrian and Vallès, Rachilde and Colette, the Goncourt brothers and Marcelle Tinayre, La Fontaine and Corneille, the song-writer Jules Jouy and the theater critic Francisque Sarcey among others, some of these essays open up new perspectives on well-known issues such as education, the definition of national classics, Boulangism and women’s liberation, while others bring to light hitherto unsuspected connections between apparently disparate problems like decadence, anarchism and feminism, the mystery of literariness and the ban on Muslim headscarves, or the posthumous publication of private letters and the State’s interest in cultural and literary heroes. The final piece crystallizes the fundamental conflict of democratization: the tension between the republican desire for popular participation and the fear of the consequences of that participation by an uncultured public.
