Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, “Revelation Rainbow” is the end of a forty-year quest by the author to find answers to the questions generated by Biblically un-informed scholarship that shrouds rather than unveils the great truths of this Holy Spirit directed work of our Lord. Hundreds of students of Revelation have been left in a bewildered state because certain scholars approach the book with a human mindset, instead of a Spirit led mindset. Instead of looking at Revelation as The Divine apocalypse, they try to humanize and literalize the book as a study of human secular history leaving the student with a complicated scheme of things that do not make sense. Having met these students, Mr. Doughty was greatly distressed to see them turn from God’s Word (especially Revelation) altogether. Subjects like the Antichrist, Millennium, Mark of the Best, Rapture, Tribulation and “Left Behind” are just some of the end-time twists causing confusion.

Book Synopsis Explorations in Doughty's Arabia Deserta by : Stephen E. Tabachnick
Download or read book Explorations in Doughty's Arabia Deserta written by Stephen E. Tabachnick and published by University of Georgia Press. This book was released on 2012-02-01 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Charles Montagu Doughty's Travels in Arabia Deserta (1888) is remarkable for its scientific evelations and brilliantly unique style—an artful combination of Arabic and English syntax and diction that rendered a foreign way of life and thought and depicted a distant landscape of stark, barren beauty. The ten original essays in this book examine many aspects of Arabia Deserta, including its Victorian characteristics and aesthetics; its blend of fact and fantasy; its portrayal of Arab society and of Doughty himself; and the accuracy of its geographical, geological, archaeological, historical, and ethnographical observations. Additionally, the book's introduction and two bibliographies probe Arabia Deserta's reception, unique position in the genre of travel literature, and bibliographical history. During the grueling twenty-one-month journey narrated in Arabia Deserta, Doughty endured periods of sickness and near-famine, a series of treacherous guides, attack by a mob, and virtual imprisonment by a corrupt Turkish commandant. Celebrating this epic of scholarship and survival, Explorations in Doughty's "Arabia Deserta" maps the contours of a work that T. E. Lawrence, who had followed Doughty's path to Arabia, called "a book not like other books, but something particular, a bible of its kind."
Book Synopsis The Evolution of US Army Tactical Doctrine, 1946-76 by : Robert A. Doughty
Download or read book The Evolution of US Army Tactical Doctrine, 1946-76 written by Robert A. Doughty and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper focuses on the formulation of doctrine since World War II. In no comparable period in history have the dimensions of the battlefield been so altered by rapid technological changes. The need for the tactical doctrines of the Army to remain correspondingly abreast of these changes is thus more pressing than ever before. Future conflicts are not likely to develop in the leisurely fashions of the past where tactical doctrines could be refined on the battlefield itself. It is, therefore, imperative that we apprehend future problems with as much accuracy as possible. One means of doing so is to pay particular attention to the business of how the Army's doctrine has developed historically, with a view to improving methods of future development.

Book Synopsis Half Past Ten in the Afternoon by : James Budd
Download or read book Half Past Ten in the Afternoon written by James Budd and published by Arabian Publishing. This book was released on 2014-05-31 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much of this book is a record of the time the author spent between 1965 and 1970 as an English teacher in Aneiza a provincial town in central Saudi Arabia. In an entertaining series of anecdotes, he describes the daily life and customs of its people, his relations with colleagues and students at the local secondary school, and the events leading up to his removal from the town he had come to regard as home, his transfer to Riyadh, and final departure from the country. In the 1960s Aneiza was still living partly in the age of Charles Doughty, the 19th-century explorer who stayed there for some weeks in the 1870s, and architecturally the town had changed little over the intervening decades. On the other hand, its mid-20th-century inhabitants were very much aware of what was happening in the wider world and felt deeply involved with events in the region. This involvement is reflected in a chapter on inter-Arab politics, the Six-Day War of June 1967, and its causes and aftermath. The authors story does not end in 1970. In Journey to Makkah he writes of his transition from agnosticism to Islam and gives us an account of his pilgrimage to Makkah in 1996 in the company of one of his old students from Aneiza. Finally, in Aneiza Revisited, he describes the town in its 21st-century incarnation during his return visit in 2011. Despite Aneizas material transformation, however, with its concrete and glass buildings and fast food outlets, he found that, despite looking very different, it had still managed to retain its intimate social character and essential congeniality.

This book was released on 2017-10-03 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A New York Times and Los Angeles Times Bestseller “Doughty chronicles [death] practices with tenderheartedness, a technician’s fascination, and an unsentimental respect for grief.” —Jill Lepore, The New Yorker Fascinated by our pervasive fear of dead bodies, mortician Caitlin Doughty embarks on a global expedition to discover how other cultures care for the dead. From Zoroastrian sky burials to wish-granting Bolivian skulls, she investigates the world’s funerary customs and expands our sense of what it means to treat the dead with dignity. Her account questions the rituals of the American funeral industry—especially chemical embalming—and suggests that the most effective traditions are those that allow mourners to personally attend to the body of the deceased. Exquisitely illustrated by artist Landis Blair, From Here to Eternity is an adventure into the morbid unknown, a fascinating tour through the unique ways people everywhere confront mortality.
