This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Third Symposium on Numerical and Physical Aspects of Aerodynamic Flows, like its immediate predecessor, was organized with emphasis on the calculation of flows relevant to aircraft, ships, and missiles. Fifty-five papers and 20 brief communications were presented at the Symposium, which was held at the California State University at Long Beach from 21 to 24 January 1985. A panel discussion was chaired by A. M. O. Smith and includeq state ments by T. T. Huang, C. E. lobe, l. Nielsen, and C. K. Forester on priorities for future research. The first lecture in memory of Professor Keith Stewartson was delivered by J. T. Stuart and is reproduced in this volume together with a selection of the papers presented at the Symposium. In Volume II of this series, papers were selected so as to provide a clear indication of the range of procedures available to represent two-dimensional flows, their physical foundation, and their predictive ability. In this volume, the emphasis is on three-dimensional flows with a section of five papers concerned with unsteady flows and a section of seven papers on three dimensional flows: The papers deal mainly with calculation methods and encompass subsonic and transonic, attached and separated flows. The selec tion has been made so as to fulfill the same purpose for three-dimensional flows as did Volume II for two-dimensional flows.

Download or read book Cities and Their Vital Systems written by Advisory Committee on Technology and Society and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1989 with total page 1298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cities and Their Vital Systems asks basic questions about the longevity, utility, and nature of urban infrastructures; analyzes how they grow, interact, and change; and asks how, when, and at what cost they should be replaced. Among the topics discussed are problems arising from increasing air travel and airport congestion; the adequacy of water supplies and waste treatment; the impact of new technologies on construction; urban real estate values; and the field of "telematics," the combination of computers and telecommunications that makes money machines and national newspapers possible.
Book Synopsis Liutex-based and Other Mathematical, Computational and Experimental Methods for Turbulence Structure by : Chaoqun Liu
Download or read book Liutex-based and Other Mathematical, Computational and Experimental Methods for Turbulence Structure written by Chaoqun Liu and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2020-04-28 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The knowledge of quantitative turbulence mechanics relies heavily upon the definition of the concept of a vortex in mathematical terms. This reference work introduces the reader to Liutex, which is an accepted, accurate and mathematical definition of a vortex. The core of this book is a compilation of several papers on the subject. presented in the 13th World Congress of Computational Mechanics (WCCM2018), Symposium 704, Mathematics and Computations for Multiscale Structures of Turbulent and Other Complex Flows, New York, United States on July 27, 2018. This compilation also includes other research papers which explain the work done on the vortex definition, vortex identification and turbulence structure from different insight angles including mathematics, computational physics and experiments. The thirteen chapters in this volume will be informative to scientists and engineers who are interested in advanced theories about fluid dynamics, vortex science and turbulence research.

Book Synopsis CFD for Wind and Tidal Offshore Turbines by : Esteban Ferrer
Download or read book CFD for Wind and Tidal Offshore Turbines written by Esteban Ferrer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-06-09 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book encompasses novel CFD techniques to compute offshore wind and tidal applications. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques are regarded as the main design tool to explore the new engineering challenges presented by offshore wind and tidal turbines for energy generation. The difficulty and costs of undertaking experimental tests in offshore environments have increased the interest in the field of CFD which is used to design appropriate turbines and blades, understand fluid flow physical phenomena associated with offshore environments, predict power production or characterise offshore environments, amongst other topics.
