Book excerpt: Set in the late 1700s, a tale of magic and fate, triumph and heartbreak, and the powerful bonds between mothers and daughters unfolds in this spellbinding novel from a master storyteller. Brittany, 1762 There hasn’t been a witch born in the Orchière clan for generations. According to the elders, that line is dead, leaving the clan vulnerable to the whims of superstitious villagers and the prejudices of fearmongering bishops. Ursule Orchière has been raised on stories of the great witches of the past. But the only magic she knows is the false spells her mother weaves over the gullible women who visit their fortune-telling caravan. Everything changes when Ursule comes of age and a spark of power flares to life. Thrilled to be chosen, she has no idea how magic will twist and shape her future. Guided by an ancient grimoire and the whispers of her ancestors, Ursule is destined to walk the same path as the great witches of old. But first, the Orchière magical lineage must survive. And danger hovers over her, whether it’s the bloodlust of the mob or the flames of the pyre. Return to the world of A Secret History of Witches with the bewitching tale of Ursule Orchière and her discovery of magical abilities that will not only change the course of her life but every generation that comes after her. Book Synopsis Let's Talk about Love by : Carl Wilson
Download or read book Let's Talk about Love written by Carl Wilson and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Non-fans regard Dion as ersatz and plastic, yet to those who love her, no one could be more real, with her impoverished childhood, her (creepy) manager-husband's struggle with cancer, her knack for howling out raw emotion. There's nothing cool about Dion, and nothing clever. That's part of her appeal as an object of love or hatred - with most critics and committed music fans taking pleasure (or at least geeky solace) in their lofty contempt. This book documents Carl Wilson's brave and unprecedented year-long quest to find his inner Dion fan, and explores how we define ourselves in the light of what we call good and bad, what we love and what we hate."--Bloomsbury Publishing.
Download or read book Sinner's Creed written by Scott Stapp and published by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.. This book was released on 2012-10-02 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sinner’s Creed is the uncensored memoir of Scott Stapp, Grammy Award–winning leader of the multiplatinum rock band CREED. During CREED’s decade of dominance and in the years following the band’s breakup, Scott struggled with drugs and alcohol, which led not only to a divorce, but also to a much-publicized suicide attempt in 2006. Now clean, sober, and in the midst of a highly successful solo career, Scott has finally come full circle—a turnaround he credits to his renewed faith in God. In Sinner's Creed, Scott shares his story for the first time—from his fundamentalist upbringing, the rise and fall of CREED, and his ongoing battle with addiction, the rediscovery of his faith, and the launch of his solo career. The result is a gripping memoir that is proof positive that God is always present in our lives, despite the colossal mess we sometimes make of them.

"A superb pictorial account of LJ's musical journey from first meeting Paul McCartney in a Wembley men's room to becoming a member of this fan's favorite line-up of Wings. Master Juber's well-written words and never-before-seen photos nearly match his unbelievable talents as one of the world's most respected and gifted guitar players. A wonderful read." - Chris Carter; Host "Breakfast with The Beatles" KLOS-FM Los Angeles, California When Wings folded in 1981, the guitarist relocated to the USA and settled in Los Angeles to raise a family. Since then he has become one of Hollywood's most in-demand studio players and has gained world-wide recognition as a virtuoso concert performer, recording artist and composer. About the book... In 1978, Laurence Juber was plucked from the London studio world by Paul McCartney, who asked him to play lead guitar in what was to become the final incarnation of Paul's post-Beatles group Wings. He recorded and toured with the band for three years, during which time they won a Grammy(R) and scored numerous chart hits. The band has enjoyed a popularity that goes beyond simply that of Paul McCartney's 70s era backing group. This book brings that final chapter to life with a unique collection of unseen photographs, stories and memorabilia that show Wings at work and play.
