Book Synopsis Ce que savaient les Alliés by : Christian Destremau
Download or read book Ce que savaient les Alliés written by Christian Destremau and published by Librairie Académique Perrin. This book was released on 2009 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume, which gathers contributions presented at the annual conferences of l'Association pour le développement de l'histoire culturelle (ADHC), questions the subjects and boundaries of cultural history in France – with regard to neighboring approaches such as cultural studies, media studies, and gender studies – to elaborate a "social history of representations." Historians, philosophers and sociologists address a large variety of topics and methodological proposals. Definitions, objects and actors, memories and cultural transfers: this book depicts the major questions that underlie the historical debate at the beginning of the 21st century.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The twenty-five crisp and amusing short stories in this collection prove that elementary readings in French can also be entertaining. Some are original anecdotes and others adaptations of traditional French of French-Canadian stories, some are from anonymous sources, and some by acknowledged masters such as LaFontaine. All are distinguished by the classic literary virtue of the French—precision, economy, and the traditional Gallic twist. A delightful series of line drawings by Antje Lingner aptly reflects the spirit of the book. This collection is designed for reading in Grades XI and XII, and for introductory courses at the University or Extension course level. To encourage a quick response and facility in reading, the stories emphasize the idiomatic and rely heavily on dialogue, avoiding as much as possible an over-literary syntax. The text employs elementary vocabulary and constructions throughout and is representative in all respects of the spoken language today. The emphasis on conversational organization in the stories will be immediately apparent, and it is this feature that should be exploited in the classroom and other group situations. On a series of four long-playing records the entire text has been transcribed for use in oral and phonetics classes. The readings are given slowly but naturally and with a relish which catches the drama and humour of the material. The combination of text and recordings offers a most valuable method of acquiring aural familiarity with spoken French. The stories are supplemented with vocabulary, notes and exercises. For each story there is supplied a series of questions that lend themselves to oral answers and discussion; in addition there is a short exercise reviewing grammatical forms, with special emphasis on the verb, as well as a brief passage for prose translation into French.

Book Synopsis Human Dignity by : Agostinho Monteiro
Download or read book Human Dignity written by Agostinho Monteiro and published by Ethics International Press. This book was released on 2023-11-25 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an interdisciplinary study on the extreme vilification of human dignity by Nazism. It is focused on the two greatest protagonists of the sides that were confronted in those years of the most tragic uncertainty about the fate of the human species: Adolf Hitler, the ‘genius’ of Nazi ideology, and Thomas Mann, his most prominent opponent in exile, spokesman for the values of Humanism and Civilisation that blew pulverised from the chimneys of concentration camps. How was Nazism possible? How can we prevent its avatars? This book presents that Nazism and the wickedness of its ghastly crimes against human dignity have anthropological roots, able to reproduce at any time and any place, and that the most powerful resource against its reproduction and for the flourishment of the human dignity is the human right to education.
