This state of affairs between the two countries could be traced to the very beginning of the birth of the two nations in 1947. The problems that existed in the initial years of their independence have survived in the seventh decade with no signs yet of any enduring solution. This study deals with India-Pakistan relations from 2003 to the present time. This period has been chosen because it signifies the culmination of certain trends in the relationship between the two nations after the start of the process of Confidence Building Measures (CBMs). This book provides a theoretical understanding of the South Asian region in general and India-Pakistan relations in particular. It analyses not only India’s interests and policy options towards Pakistan but also evaluates the real nature of their bilateral relations. It has discussed not only the key issues between them, such as Kashmir, Terrorism, Siachen, Sir Creek, Drug Trafficking but also provides their likely solutions to these problems. Besides this, the process of CBMs and the steps taken by both nations are also discussed in it. Hence this book presents an overview of the contemporary nature of India-Pakistan relations after the start of the process of CBMs. The book may be beneficial for students, teachers, policymakers, diplomats, as well as, common readers engaged in understandings the current discourses on India-Pakistan relations in this changed international milieu.
