Book Synopsis Catalytic Oxidations with Hydrogen Peroxide as Oxidant by : G. Strukul
Download or read book Catalytic Oxidations with Hydrogen Peroxide as Oxidant written by G. Strukul and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hydrogen peroxide is a chemical that is becoming increasingly fashionable as an oxidant, both in industry and in academia and whose production is expected to increase significantly in the next few years. This growth in interest is largely due to environmental considerations related to the clean nature of hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant, its by-product being only water. To date this chemical has largely been employed as a non-selective oxidant in operations like the bleaching of paper, cellulose and textiles, or in the formulation of detergents, and only to a minimal extent in the manufacture of organic chemicals. This book has been organized to cover the different aspects of the chemistry of hydrogen peroxide. The various chapters into which the book is divided have been written critically by the authors with the general aim of stimulating new ideas and emphasizing those aspects that are likely to lead to new developments in organic synthesis in the coming future.

Book Synopsis Catalytic Aerobic Oxidations by : Esteban Mejía
Download or read book Catalytic Aerobic Oxidations written by Esteban Mejía and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2020-07-14 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Oxidation reactions are an important chemical transformation in both academia and industry. Among the major advances in the field has been the development of catalytic processes, which are not only selective and efficient, but also allow the replacement of common stoichiometric oxidants with molecular oxygen, ideally from air at atmospheric pressure. This results in processes with higher atom efficiency, where water is the only side product in line with the principles of green chemistry. Focusing on the use of molecular oxygen as the terminal oxidant, this book covers recent advances in both heterogeneous and homogeneous systems, with and without metals and on the “taming” of the highly reactive oxygen gas by use of micro-flow reactors and membranes. A useful reference for industrial and academic chemists working on oxidation processes, as well as green chemists.

Other chapters explore stoichiometric oxidations with metal oxidants, which include permanganate and chromic acid. This book discusses as well the synthetic applications of catalytic oxidations as well as the technology of petrochemical oxidation. The final chapter deals with the autoxidations of sulfur, phosphorus, and nitrogen compounds. This book is intended for chemists involved in organic synthesis, catalysis, and organometallic chemistry, both in academic institutions and in industrial laboratories.
Book Synopsis Metalloporphyrins Catalyzed Oxidations by : F. Montanari
Download or read book Metalloporphyrins Catalyzed Oxidations written by F. Montanari and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Oxidative catalysis by metalloporphyrin systems occupies a prominent role in the current research in the fields of chemical and biological catalysis. Our particular interest and approach has been to collect in the same volume papers dealing with both the chemical and biological aspects of the reactivity of heme systems because of the realization that a better understanding of the complementary discipline can be extremely useful for the researchers from either field. The current progress of the research on synthetic metalloporphyrin catalysts has led to the development of several systems that are able to reproduce the heme-enzyme mediated oxygenation and oxidation reactions, at least in terms of reaction types, mechanisms and often rates. These achievements have stimulated the of creating metalloporphyrin catalysts which are both ambitious project efficient and stable enough to become competitive for large-scale industrial processes. Although this project is still far from being realized, the efforts in this direction parallel those aimed at the application of heme enzymes to chemical technologies, e. g. for the mild, selective oxidation of organics or the detoxification of pollutants. Both the two approaches will be advantageous because while the enzyme systems can achieve selectivities which are probably unattainable by synthetic catalysts, the latter can be active under experimental conditions that would readily inactivate the enzymes.
Book Synopsis Frontiers of Green Catalytic Selective Oxidations by : Konstantin P. Bryliakov
Download or read book Frontiers of Green Catalytic Selective Oxidations written by Konstantin P. Bryliakov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-02 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The demand for novel efficient and environmentally sustainable chemo, regio- and stereoselective catalyst systems for the oxidation of organic substrates is continuously growing in line with toughening economic and environmental constraints. This book addresses these issues; it consists of eleven chapters written by world-recognized experts in green and sustainable oxidation catalysis. The most urgent and challenging topics, in the judgment of the editor, such as green asymmetric epoxidations, sulfoxidatiuons, C–H oxidations; oxidation catalysis by polyoxometalates and oxidations in non-conventional solvents, etc. have been critically reviewed in this book. Both fundamental aspects, such as catalysts design, catalytic properties, nature of catalytically active sites and reaction mechanisms, and practical outlook of the oxidations have been addressed by the authors. The book appeals to a broad readership, particularly graduate students, employees of universities and research organizations, and industrial researchers, particularly those working in the areas of homogeneous oxidation catalysis, asymmetric synthesis, organocatalysis, sustainable catalytic processes and green chemistry, mechanisms of catalytic reactions, synthesis of bioactive compounds, biomimetic chemistry, etc. Konstantin Bryliakov is Leading Researcher at the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis. In 2016, he was elected Honorary Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
