Book Synopsis Cases on Managing Dairy Productive Chains by : Satolo, Eduardo Guilherme
Download or read book Cases on Managing Dairy Productive Chains written by Satolo, Eduardo Guilherme and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2023-03-27 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In agricultural production, one of the sectors that stands out worldwide for its economic and social relevance is milk production. Although food items tend to be produced in complex systems composed of several agents and with processes connected to supply chains, the dairy supply chain is seen as relatively simple and includes three main stakeholders: dairy production, processing and packaging, and retail. However, this simplicity of chain management changes in a scenario in which milk production is concentrated in a high number of small-scale producers, who occupy areas where other crops are less viable. At this point in the literature, there are few works that consolidate studies that address the daily production chain, in particular dealing with aspects of good milk manufacturing and quality practices, environment, dairy farming 4.0, and management of the dairy production chain. Cases on Managing Dairy Productive Chains discusses the relevance and topicality of the themes and their applications in one of the main production chains, such as milk, and allows researchers to visualize new insights for research in the various aspects of applicable management. It further presents cases in dairy segments and investigates their applications, entrepreneurial strategies, and innovation in management areas. Covering topics such as cooling systems, raw materials, and sustainability indicators, this case book is an excellent resource for agriculturalists, managers, engineers, extensionists, students and faculty of higher education, librarians, researchers, and academicians.

Book Synopsis Age and Gender Considerations in Psychiatric Diagnosis by : William E. Narrow
Download or read book Age and Gender Considerations in Psychiatric Diagnosis written by William E. Narrow and published by American Psychiatric Pub. This book was released on 2008-05-20 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written to help identify major gaps in our knowledge of how gender and age affect psychiatric diagnoses and to stimulate much-needed research to fill these gaps, Age and Gender Considerations in Psychiatric Diagnosis serves as both a valuable short-term source for the DSM-V Task Force and its disorder-specific workgroups, and a long-term guide for future studies that will contribute to revised psychiatric classifications in these three areas. Here, 47 experts present findings in three areas of psychiatric research that historically have been neglected but rightfully have received increasing attention in recent years and thus are worthy of investigation into their clinical features, etiology, and course: 1. Significant gender differences in prevalence, symptom profiles, and risk factors for mental disorders, including neurodevelopmental, neurophysiological, and environmental factors for men and women that cut across diagnostic categories-for example, the critical importance of gender in how psychiatric illness develops and presents; DSM's approach to gender to date; and relevant research findings and gaps in the epidemiology, etiology, and pathophysiology of disorders and the gender-related expression of psychopathology, including the controversial and complex question of whether DSM should have different diagnostic criteria for men and women. 2. Mental disorders in infancy and early childhood, including diagnosis and measurement of psychopathology; PTSD and social and cognitive factors related to the experience of stress; reactive attachment disorder (unique in part because of its specificity to early childhood); mood and anxiety disorders and difficulties in diagnosis; sleep disorders, including two new disorders, Night-Waking Dysomnia and Sleep-Onset Dysomnia; feeding disorders, including the need to address overeating and overfeeding (especially given the alleged U.S. epidemic of obesity); early childhood manifestations of behavior disorders; and early symptoms and diagnosis of autism. 3. Mental disorders in the elderly, such as dementia and depression, once considered normal consequences of aging but now understood to represent mental disorders, including the need to identify specific brain structure abnormalities, biomarkers, and the many contributing biological, psychosocial, and environmental factors of mental illness in late life and to understand their roles in the elderly to better diagnose and monitor disease progression. Written for clinicians and researchers alike, this thought-provoking compendium contributes critical information that helps enhance our understanding of the causes of mental disorders, develop effective preventive and treatment interventions, and inform future editions of DSM and ICD.
Book Synopsis Tapping the Green Market by : Abraham Guillen
Download or read book Tapping the Green Market written by Abraham Guillen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-08-21 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a rapidly growing interest in, and demand for, non-timber forest products (NTFPs). They provide critical resources across the globe fulfilling nutritional, medicinal, financial and cultural needs. However, they have been largely overlooked in mainstream conservation and forestry politics. This volume explains the use and importance of certification and eco-labelling for guaranteeing best management practices of non-timber forest products in the field. Using extensive case studies and global profiles of non-timber forest products, this work not only seeks to further our comprehension of certification processes but also broaden understanding of non-timber forest product management, harvesting and marketing. It should be useful to forest managers, policy-makers and conservation organizations as well as for academics in these areas.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most frequently asked questions that confront the fetal medicine trainee/expert on a daily basis are “Is the finding real or merely an artifact?” and “Is the diagnosis correct?”. However, to be able to find the description of an abnormal ultrasound finding in a textbook, one generally has to search by the definite diagnosis, which has not been done as yet. This uneasy feeling was the first factor that directed the layout of Ultrasound of Congenital Fetal Anomalies: Differential Diagnosis and Prognostic Indicators, Second Edition. Copiously illustrated, the book displays fetal anomalies by scanning view and descriptions of all major ultrasound planes, detailing what can be considered a normal view and what cannot. See What’s New in the Second Edition: Early detection of fetal anomalies (1214 weeks) Ultrasound in fetal infections and in twins The nuchal translucency issue, the newest intracranial translucency as well as the range of congenital anomalies detectable at this gestational age Expanded coverage of heart anomalies, including arrhythmias and early fetal echocardiography The author’s mission continues to be to provide guidance on how to quickly recognize and diagnose congenital fetal anomalies, beginning at the beginning with ultrasound sigh all the way through to final diagnosis.
