Book excerpt: O objetivo deste trabalho foi o de avaliar a dinamica do C e N da biomassa microbiana do solo e da serapilheira em povoamentos de eucalipto em varias condicoes edafoclimaticas do sudeste brasileiro. O carbono e o nitrogenio da biomassa microbiana foram estimados em amostras coletadas na camada de 0-10 cm de solo (CBMS e NBMS, respectivamente) e em amostras da serapilheira (NBMP e CBMP, respectivamente) obtidas em povoamentos de eucalipto de 1 a 7 anos de idade, plantados em cinco diferentes Municipios do Brasil e em area de vegetacao de floresta natural respectiva a cada Municipio, sendo a amostragem realizada no periodo de marco a novembro de 1995. O objetivo deste trabalho foi o de avaliar a dinamica do carbono da biomassa microbiana do solo e da serapilheira em povoamentos de eucalipto, cultivados em varias condicoes edafoclimaticas do sudeste brasileiro. Quantificaram-se o carbono da biomassa microbiana do solo e da serapilheira, a TRBM e a relacao (C mic:C org). O carbono da biomassa microbiana do solo (CBMS) e da serapilheira (CBMP) foram estimados em povoamentos de eucalipto de 1 a 7 anos de idade, plantados em diferentes Municipios, sendo a amostragem realizada no periodo de marco a novembro de 1995. O CBM, a respiracao acumulada (RA) o C organico do solo correlacionaram-se positivamente com o teor de argila. A TRBMS correlacionou-se negativamente e o CBMS positivamente com a precipitacao pluviometrica (media mensal), bem como, o CBMP e a TRBMP apresentaram tendencia positiva e negativa com a precipitacao, respectivamente. Os valores do CBMP e a respiracao acumulada da serapilheira (RAP) ficaram na faixa de 4998 a 7308 ug de C.g-1 de serapilheira e de 6584 a 10674 ug de C-CO2.g-1 serapilheira, respectivamente e a TRBMP variuo de 9409 a 20527 ug de C-C02.g-1 de biomassa.h-1. A producao de serapilheira, em relacao a idade de 1 ano, aumentou 52% no segundo ano e apenas 20% ate o setimo ano. Este acrescimo de serapilheira no segundo ano, foi acompanhado de uma tendencia de aumento no CBMP e na TRBMP. No povoamento de 7 anos, o CBMP decresceu 32% em relacao aos 2 anos e a TRBMP aumentou 54% em relacao a 1 ano. O CBMS ficou na faixa de 168 a 232 ug de C.g-1 de solo, e apresentou a mesma tendencia que o CBMP. Nao houve diferenca significativa entre o eucalipto de 7 anos de idade e a floresta natural para TRBMS e para a relacao C:N microbiana do solo. No entanto, com excecao da relacao C:N do solo, o teor de C organico, a CBMS, a RAS e a relacao Cmic:Corg do solo sob floresta natural foram significativamente maiores do que sob eucalipto. Os valores de RAP, a CBMP e a relacao C:N microbiana da serapilheira foram similares entre as coberturas florestais. Por outro lado, o acumulo de serapilheira e a TRBMP foram significativamente maiores no eucalipto do que na floresta natural, ao contrario para a relacao Cmic:Corg. Em povoamentos de eucalipto a serapilheira representa maior reserva de C microbiano do que o solo. A biomassa e a atividade microbiana do solo sao influenciadas pela biomassa e a atividade microbiana da serapilheira. A biomassa e a atividade microbiana do solo sao influenciadas por alguns atributos quimicos e fisicos do solo, como os teores de C organico, de N total e de argila. A floresta natural, em funcao da combinacao de diferentes especies, produziu uma serapilheira de melhor qualidade, expresso pela menor relacao C:N e, consequentemente, maior eficiencia da biomassa microbiana do solo e da serapilheira em utilizar o C organico. A acumulacao da serapilheira e sua relacao C:N correlacionaram-se positivamente com o NBMP, sugerindo que a alta relacao C:N levou a menor taxa de decomposicao, e maior imobilizacao do N na biomassa microbiana. Neste caso, a biomassa microbiana da serapilheira de eucalipto exerceria uma funcao adicional de dreno de N, ao contrario da biomassa microbiana do solo, que estaria exercendo funcao de catalisadora e fonte de N, como foi indicado pela correlacao positiva entre o NBMS e a relacao N microbiano: N total do solo (N mic:Nt) com o N mineral. O N-NH4+ correlacionou-se positivamente com o Ph do solo e a precipitacao pluviometrica, mas negativamente com o teor de argila, enquanto o N-total do solo, N-NO3- e NBMS apresentaram correlacao positiva com a umidade do solo e o teor de argila e negativa com o pH do solo. O solos sob floresta natural apresentaram valores de N-total, N-NH4+, N-NO3- e NBMS significativamente maiores do que nos solos sob eucalipto (Quadro 4). O eucalipto apresentou maior acumulo de serapilheira e teor de N significativamente menor (0,88%) do que a serapilheira da floresta natural (1,60%) (Quadro 4). Encontrou-se correlacao negativa entre o N mineral do solo e a producao de biomassa vegetal e N absorvido pelo eucalipto. A ciclagem microbiana dos solos sob eucalipto de diferentes idades variaram de 0,54 a 1,36 anos e o fluxo do N na biomassa microbiana variou de 40 a 98 kg.ha-1.ano. 1, com as idades. Em povoamentos de eucalipto e serapilheira representa maior reserva de N microbiano do que o solo. A maior relacao C:N e quantidade de serapilheira afetam positivamente a quantidade de N microbiano da serapilheira. O N da biomassa microbiana do solo varia positivamente com os teores de C organico e N total do solo. A disponibilidade de N-NH4+ e N-N03- do solo pode ser avaliada por meio da quantificacao do N da biomassa microbiana e do N total do solo. O N da biomassa microbiano e os teores de N-NH4+ e N-N03- do solo sao influenciados pelo teor de argila. The objective of this study was to estimate the dynamics of C and N in microbial biomass of soil and litter of eucalypt plantations in five different conditions of soil and climate in the Southeastern region of Brazil. The microbial biomass nitrogen and carbon of soil were estimated in samples collected from the 0-10 cm upper layer of the soil (NBMS and CBMS, respectively) and in litter samples (NBMP and CBMP, respectively) in eucalypt plantations of different ages (1 to 7 years), and in areas of natural vegetation, in five regions of Brazil. The samples were collected from March to November 1995. The CBMS, RAS and organic C of soil was positively correlated with clay content. The TRBMS was negatively correlated and CBMS positively correlated with rainfall. CBMP and TRBMP presented a tendency in a positive and negative correlation with rainfall, respectively. The CBMP, RAP and TRBMP ranged from 4998 to 7308 ug C.g-1 litter, 6584 to 10674 ug C-CO2.g-1 litter, and 9409 to 20527 ug C-CO2.g-1 microbial C.h-1, respectively. The litter production increased 52% in the 2 year-old year stand as compared with the one year old-stand, and increased only 20% 7 year old-stand. This increase in the litter in the 2 year-old year was followed by a tendency of increase in CBMP and TRBMP. In the 7 year old-stand the CBMP decreased 32% when it was compared with 2 year-old year-stand and increased 54% when if was compared with 2 year-old year-stand and increased 54% when it was compared with one year old-stand. The CBMS was ranged from 168 to 232 ug C.g-1 soil and presented the same tendency of CBMP. Significative differences not occurred among the eucalypt of 7 year-old and the natural forest for TRBMS and soil microbial C:N ratio. However, exception of the soil C:N ratio, the organic C content, CBMS, RAS and Cmic:Corg ratio of the soil in natural forest were highest significatively than the eucalypt. The values of RAP, CBMP and microbial C:N ratio of litter were similary between the covers forests. Book excerpt: Estudaram-se os efeitos da deposicao dos residuos da exploracao do eucalipto sobre os teores de nutrientes, a atividade biologica e os teores de carbono e de nitrogenio na biomassa de microrganismos no solo. O experimento foi conduzido em tres areas de plantio da Aracruz Celulose S.A., no municipio de Aracruz, ES. Na area 1, as avaliacoes foram feitas antes do corte das arvores e aos tempos de 3, 4 e 5 meses apos. Na area 2 e na area 3 as avaliacoes foram aos tempos de 12 e 24 meses apos o corte das arvores. Para as analises de N-NH4+, N-NO3-, P, K, Ca2+, H+ +A13+, pH, nitrogenio total e materia organica, os solos foram amostrados as profundidades de 0 - 5, 5 - 10, 10 - 20, 20 - 30,30 -40 e 40 - 60 cm. Para as analises de carbono e de nitrogenio da biomassa de microrganismos, os solos foram amostrados as profundidades de 0 - 5 e 5 - 20 cm. A deposicao dos residuos aumentou a atividade biologica sem, no entanto, haver aumento detectavel na biomassa microbiana. Aevolucao de CO2 do solo variou de 76 a 396 mg de CO2 m-2 h-1. Os valores de carbono da biomassa de microrganismos variaram de 54 a 294 ug g-1 de solo e os de nitrogenio de 20 a 64 ug g-1 de solo. A deposicao dos residuos nao alterou os teores de nutrientes no perfil, a excecao do K. Na area 1, os niveis de K no solo aumentaram de forma significativa nas profundidades de 0 - 5 e de 5 - 10 cm. Na area 2, o aumento de K ocorreu ate a profundidade de 20 - 30 cm e na area 3, ate 40 - 60 cm. Os teores de N amonical, quando detectados, variaram de 0,2 a 9 ug g-1 ...
