Book Synopsis Archean Base and Precious Metal Deposits, Southern Abitibi Greenstone Belt, Canada by : Thomas Monecke
Download or read book Archean Base and Precious Metal Deposits, Southern Abitibi Greenstone Belt, Canada written by Thomas Monecke and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Abitibi greenstone belt of eastern Canada represents the world's largest Neoarchean terrane of supracrustal rocks. Straddling the border between the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, the belt covers an area that is approximately 700 km from southeast to northwest and 350 km from north to south. The belt is comprised of several major east-trending successions of folded volcanic and sedimentary rocks, with intervening intrusions. The supracrustal rocks of the Abitibi greenstone belt are uniquely well preserved and have mostly been overprinted only at a low metamorphic grade, allowing the study of primary geological relationships.
Book Synopsis Evolution of Archean Crust and Early Life by : Yildirim Dilek
Download or read book Evolution of Archean Crust and Early Life written by Yildirim Dilek and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-26 with total page 421 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an integrated approach to the study of the evolution of the Archean lithosphere, biosphere and atmosphere, and as such it is a unique contribution to our understanding of the early Earth and life. The structural and geochemical make-up of both the oceanic and continental crust of the Archean Earth is documented in some case studies of various cratons, and the implications of the Phanerozoic plate and plume tectonic processes for the Archean geology are discussed in several chapters in the book. All chapters are process-oriented and data-rich, and reflect the most recent knowledge and information on the Archean Earth. The interdisciplinary approach of examining the evolution of the Archean crust, oceans, and life that we adopt in this book sets it apart from previous publications on Precambrian geology. The book will be attractive to researchers in academia and in industry, and to senior undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty in earth and natural sciences.

Book Synopsis High-strain Zones by : Geological Society of London
Download or read book High-strain Zones written by Geological Society of London and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2005 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of research and review papers addresses the question of structural evolution during deformation to high strains and the physical properties of rocks that have been affected by high-strain zones. The discussions range from natural examples at outcrop to microscopic studies. They include experiments and numerical models based on the active processes in high-strain zones as well as studies on the physical properties of highly strained rocks in the field and laboratory. Specific questions addressed include magnetotelluric imaging of faults, magnetic fabrics, fabric development, seismic properties of highly strained rocks, change of rheology with strain, influence of melt on the localization of deformation, the relationship between deformation and metamorphism as well as new methods in the analysis of deformation. The book is aimed at an interdisciplinary group of readers interested in the effects of high strain in rocks.

Book excerpt: The map area is located east of Long Lake and comprises Daley Township and the eastern part of Ginoogaming First Nation Indian Reserve, formerly Long Lake Indian Reserve 77. Field work was carried out in summer 1988 and consisted of mapping the Precambrian bedrock and its mineral deposits. Rock samples were collected in the field, with 50 samples submitted for gold and silver assays, 40 for whole-rock geochemistry, and 88 for thin sectioning. This report describes the general geology, rock geochemistry, structural geology, metamorphism and alteration, geochronology, and economic geology of the area, including descriptions of existing properties, and the possibilities for gold, silver, base metals, iron, corundum, stone, and sand and gravel.
