This book was released on 2010-07 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: LA ZONE D'ETUDE SE SITUE A L'EST DE NIAMEY ET S'ETEND SUR PRES DE 4000 KM 2 DE L'AQUIFERE SABLO-SILTEUX DU CONTINENTAL TERMINAL. DEPUIS PLUS DE 10 ANS, LES SUIVIS PIEZOMETRIQUES MONTRENT UNE HAUSSE CONTINUE DE LA NAPPE PHREATIQUE. L'OBJECTIF DE L'ETUDE EST A LA FOIS D'EXPLIQUER CETTE HAUSSE INTERANNUELLE - D'ORIGINE CLIMATIQUE OU ANTHROPIQUE ? - ET DE QUANTIFIER L'EVOLUTION RECENTE DE LA RECHARGE. DANS CETTE OPTIQUE, PRES DE 150 CHRONIQUES PIEZOMETRIQUES (10000 MESURES) ET UNE CINQUANTAINE D'ECHANTILLONS GEOCHIMIQUES TYPIQUES DE LA NAPPE (IONS MAJEURS, 1 8O, 2H, 3H, 1 4C, 1 3C) SONT CONSIDERES ; A PLUS LONG TERME, UNE CENTAINE DE MESURES PIEZOMETRIQUES DES ANNEES 1950-80 ONT ETE RE-ANALYSEES. LA HAUSSE DE LA NAPPE EST EN MOYENNE DE 0,20 M.AN 1 SUR LA DERNIERE DECENNIE ET TRADUIT UNE RECHARGE D'AU MOINS 10 MM.AN 1. LES NIVEAUX ACTUELS SONT LES PLUS ELEVES JAMAIS MESURES, EN MOYENNE DE 3,5 M PLUS HAUTS QU'EN 1950-60. DEPUIS, DES SECHERESSES MAJEURES SE SONT PRODUITES (1970-80). L'AUGMENTATION DES RESERVES NE PEUT DONC S'EXPLIQUER QUE PAR LE DEBOISEMENT OBSERVE : DANS UN MILIEU ENDOREIQUE OU L'INFILTRATION A LA NAPPE S'EFFECTUE A TRAVERS LE FOND DES VALLEES, LE DEBOISEMENT A PROVOQUE UN ENCROUTEMENT DES SOLS ET UN AFFLUX D'EAU DE RUISSELLEMENT SUPPLEMENTAIRE AUX BAS-FONDS. A LONG TERME, DEUX APPROCHES INDEPENDANTES PERMETTENT DE QUANTIFIER LE RENOUVELLEMENT DE LA NAPPE. LA PREMIERE PROVIENT DE LA MORPHOLOGIE NATURELLE EN DEPRESSION DE LA PIEZOMETRIE, EXPLICABLE PAR UN DEFICIT LOCALISE INFILTRATION-EVAPOTRANSPIRATION ET DONT LA MODELISATION SUGGERE UNE RECHARGE REGIONALE PROCHE DU MM.AN 1. LA DEUXIEME EST DEDUITE DES TENEURS EN 3H ET 1 4C, QUI PERMETTENT D'ESTIMER LA RECHARGE A LONG TERME ENTRE 0,6 ET 5,0 MM.AN 1. DANS CE MILIEU TYPIQUEMENT SAHELIEN, LA RECHARGE DE LA NAPPE A DONC PROGRESSE D'UN FACTEUR 10 (DE 1 A PLUS DE 10 MM.AN 1) EN 4 DECENNIES. UNE TELLE QUANTIFICATION DE L'AUGMENTATION DE LA RECHARGE PROVOQUEE PAR LA DEFORESTATION EST UNE PREMIERE EN AFRIQUE.

Book excerpt: This book has been published by Allenvi (French National Alliance for Environmental Research) to coincide with the 22nd Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22) in Marrakesh. It is the outcome of work by academic researchers on both sides of the Mediterranean and provides a remarkable scientific review of the mechanisms of climate change and its impacts on the environment, the economy, health and Mediterranean societies. It will also be valuable in developing responses that draw on “scientific evidence” to address the issues of adaptation, resource conservation, solutions and risk prevention. Reflecting the full complexity of the Mediterranean environment, the book is a major scientific contribution to the climate issue, where various scientific considerations converge to break down the boundaries between disciplines.

Book excerpt: This second volume is the work of more than 55 authors from 15 different disciplines and includes complex systems science which studies the viability of components, and also the study of empirical situations. As readers will discover, the coviability of social and ecological systems is based on the contradiction between humanity, which adopts finalized objectives, and the biosphere, which refers to a ecological functions. We see how concrete situations shed light on the coviability’s determinants, and in this book the very nature of the coviability, presented as a concept-paradigm, is defined in a transversal and ontological ways. By adopting a systemic approach, without advocating any economic dogma (such as development) or dichotomizing between humans and nature, while emphasizing what is relevant to humans and what is not, this work neutrally contextualizes man’s place in the biosphere. It offers a new mode of thinking and positioning of the ecological imperative, and will appeal to all those working with social and ecological systems.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Students of a phenomenon as common but complex as andesite genesis often are overwhelmed by, or overlook, the volume and diversity of relevant information. Thus there is need for periodic overview even in the absence of a dramatic breakthrough which "solves the andesite problem" and even though new ideas and data keep the issues in a state of flux. Thus I have summarized the subject through mid·1980 from my perspective to help clarify the long-standing problem and to identify profitable areas for future research. Overviews are more easily justified than achieved and there are fundamental differences of opinion concerning how to go about them. It is professionally dangerous and therefore uncom mon for single authors, especially those under 35 such as I, to summarize a broad, active field of science in book-length thor oughness. Review articles in journals, multi-authored books, or symposia proceedings appear instead. The single-authored approach is intimidating in scale and can result in loss of thoroughness or authority on individual topics. The alternatives lack scope or integration or both.

They are about people and society, why they decide to adopt certain practices and not others and, in particular, how water management can help poor people. They are about ecosystems - how agriculture affects ecosystems, the goods and services ecosystems provide for food security and how water can be managed to meet both food and environmental security objectives. This is the eighth book in the series.
