Le dernier chapitre présente un montage expérimental qui permet de juger de la qualité des signaux mesurés.

Les cellules sont du type guide d'onde et in-situ. Leur fonctionnement a d'abord été étudié tant du point de vue de la modélisation que des tests à l'analyseur de réseau. En particulier, les cellules guide d'onde peuvent conduire à une évaluation de la permittivité du matériau sous test, une donnée souvent mal connue et cependant nécessaire à la définition des cellules et du système de mesure. Le principe du capteur repose sur une mesure de transmission (module et phase) mettant en œuvre un procédé original d'un type particulièrement simple. Après une étude du fonctionnement par C.A.O., un logiciel de correction des erreurs vectorielles propres au système a été élaboré. Un prototype, réalisé en technologie hybride, a permis d'effectuer des tests sur divers matériaux (sable de chantier, poudres textiles, sucre en poudre). La précision de la mesure est d'environ 2° sur la phase, rendant possible, dans certains cas, une détermination du taux d'humidité avec une précision de quelques pour mille. Ce prototype va maintenant pouvoir être testé en milieu industriel
